Spot on. I'm not here to talk about Mac and why I should drop $3k on a PC that's worth half.
Ok, sorry. I usually don't install or judge products in beta phase...
Guys, do you know what's the most hilarious thing in this whole "discussion". I say "new" features are lame, pathetic and have been done already in OSX for a long time. What you do.. you say I'm fanboy..... much in denial girls?
The OP specifically asked for the opinions of people that have tried it. You haven't. So shut the fuck up and GTFO.
Well there's plenty and it depends a lot of what you do with your computer. For example if you use your computer just for surfing, then it pretty much doesn't matter which OS you have. You still haven't told us what fantastic user friendly features the Mac has that the PC doesn't. Scrolling, animated icons doesn't qualify. General eye candy doesn't qualify. What is it about the Mac that makes it so much easier to use than the PC? Where is this ground breaking innovation you froth on about?
Go ahead, amaze me.
Is this your first OS thread? They always go like this when somebody dares to say new and amazing Windows features are actually something that has been around a while in other operating systems like Linux and OSX. In fact it's usually Windows vs. Linux more than Windows vs. OSX.The OP specifically asked for the opinions of people that have tried it. You haven't. So shut the fuck up and GTFO.
I bought a Macbook a year ago (and I used to swear I'd never buy a Mac), but it was actually a few hundred dollars cheaper than PC laptops with the exact specs. Throw on top of that the fact that I have a spare XP copy around, and I just used it as a PC for a while. I finally installed VMWare fusion, and now run Mac OS mainly (especially when on battery, as it gives me 25-30% more battery life), with Windows in a virtual machine as needed. I tested out Windows 7 in a virtual machine on a friend's Macbook, and I was impressed with the speed. I couldn't get OpenVPN to work properly, but I'm sure that will work eventually. As for any flashy features, I don't pay attention to those on my Mac, and I don't in Windows.Spot on. I'm not here to talk about Mac and why I should drop $3k on a PC that's worth half.
I don't want to continue on the other points because it's not going to take us anywhere but these points are really weird.. Leopard costs $129 and it comes free with any new Mac.any significant advantages over windows to justify the pricetag
reasonable price
Actually my problem has always been this windows bullshit with "new" features and I'm pissed off that they don't even try to bring some new stuff. Like I said, it would be just excellent if they could bring something new. And like you clearly see in this thread, people don't have a clue that these "new" features have already been done long time ago. Also, I have used Mac OSX, I worked for a web design company that used it exclusively. Personally, I prefer Windows, but then again, thats my opinion. You dont have to like, listen or agree with it but it still doesnt make it wrong. I dont even have a problem with you spouting off about Mac this, Mac that.
If you read my posts, I only said that this is really pathetic release feature wise and I don't think it deserves a new version number. My problem is that this thread has NOTHING to do with Mac's in the slightest yet you feel the need to bitch and moan about how much better Mac's are then Windows.

Btw, does Windows 7 finally tell you that the program is loading? If you click on icon, does it indicate somehow it's loading it? In OSX the icon appears in Dock and you can see it that it's loading it.
Exactly but strange how annoying a little thing like that gets when you first get used to that you see that it's loading. This is of course only issue with slower machines where you actually have to doubt if the slow piece of crap registered your clicks and is starting the program
Can you actually prove this or are you just quoting something you heard long long time ago? I'm not saying you are wrong because I don't know if it's true but I saw some blog post a while ago where they did some price comparisons with same hardware specs between Windows PCs and Macs. The result was that in most of models, Apple costs slightly more, like 10-20% but in few models the price was actually cheaper. That Mac costs like 3 times which a Dell with same configuration will cost me -- so I don't really give a fuck about the cost of Leopard when the hardware itself is not worth the value for me.
Funny how all this praise proves the main reason people won't use Vista is FUD and not any actual issue with the OS.
Windows 7 is Windows Vista. Look at the kernel processes, the thread counts barely changed, there's almost no underlying difference, just UI tweaks.
The "Vista wouldn't run on my hardware but Windows 7 has all the drivers" is hilarious, since there is no driver difference between Vista and 7. Windows 7 drivers are Vista drivers. That was one of the goals of the OS, to not change the driver subsystem so manufacturers don't have to write another round of drivers.
I remember so vividly when I was tearing my hair out because Windows was crashing all the time and then I found out after hours and hours of troubleshooting that my new digi-tv card was using same IRQ (or something like that) than my soundcard and that caused those failures... ah, golden times![]()
