Top 10 Netbooks

I bought a Samsung NC10 netbook when they came out in the UK about 6 months ago and find it superb - £290, lightweight, 10" screen, 1gb ram, 80gb hdd, battery life is around 6 hours and the keyboard is not far off full size so its comfortable to use. Just seemed a little better quality and more solid than the competition, and the battery life was a major plus.

A few of my friends own the Asus eeePC, they're pretty cool but they tend to get really hot and which makes it uncomfortable to type on.

ok i have to ask. are the netbooks really worth it? they seem to be way to small for me. Also, do they have much power by way of speed, and handling multitasking? Just wondering what people that own them think.

I have a eeepc 900a and its great for traveling, got it for $200 with 4GB HD, 1GB ram works great for watching movies (with an SD card) and using the internet when the blackberry just doesnt cut it, only I wish it had was better battery life - I get about 3 hours

My 10" samsung has been great, I've used it for everything all month as I've been away from home. I'm running dreamweaver, itunes, fireworks, filezilla and firefox right now on xp home, and its great. Doesn't get too hot either, and keyboard is 93% regular size. I was kinda tempted by the dell mini, but having seen one first, I felt it was just too small. It's also been in use since 10 this morning on battery only, and its now 3pm...I still have 23% power left.

I just bought an Asus EeePC and love it! I also bought some extra RAM for like $25 and it was a cinch to add. Considering the whole thing cost me under $400 and I only use it on the road or in meetings outside the office its fantastic. Battery life is also like 7-8 hours which rocks.

I have the Lenovo S10 and it's great. It has the 1.6ghz Atom processor, 160gb hard drive, 2gb of RAM, and a 10 inch screen. The battery life on mine is only a little over 3 hours, but there is a 6 cell battery that gives you about 6-8 hours.

I love it.... It's the size of a book, so it easily fits in a backpack and it doesn't take up any room like my old laptop. After traveling with the S10, a regular laptop feels like a brick to carry... just seems like a hassle.

However. I will say that I don't use the S10 as much now that I have the tmobile G1.

I have the dell 8.9" and although it is pretty nice the keyboard is just way too small to me. I really wish I would have picked up the bigger model instead. Even just using it to surf the net while watching tv, I found myself miss-typing urls left and right. I have been using it off and on for about 3 weeks now and still cant seem to get the hang of it.

I've been looking into these recently, particularly at the Acer. But it looks like there's some better ones on the market.

Great for traveling since they're only a couple pounds =)

I'm going to pick up the Asus 1000HE. Reportedly gets 9 hours battery life.

buying this as well

the problem with the dells is they only have solid state drives and those drives are really small

I'm thinking about picking up a net book. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of you rave about Asus models. Does anybody have any experience with Dell models?

Ok, I have had my Dell Inspiron Mini 9 now for a few days. Overall, it's nice, but what the hell was I thinking getting something with an 8 gig HD. Half of that space is taken up by the OS and preinstalled crapware. Even if I uninstall all the crapware, that's still not enough room to install the programs I want without filling it up. I don't want to have to plug in an external drive every time. Shoulda thought this through before ordering it.

So I am going to send it back and get the Samsung NC-10. 4.5 stars after 260 reviews.....can't beat that.
