I am reading the "Jack Reacher" series by Lee Child and I must say it's one of the best books I've EVER read. The particular one I'm reading is called "Nothing to Lose". I'm relieved to know that there are 11 more in the series, meaning I won't be bored for a couple months.

Are there any good books you guys recommend reading?

It's been a long time since I've gotten enveloped in a good story. Oh yea, here's some tits for the fuck of it.

bang bang.

The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

I haven't read her Atlas Shrugged yet, but going to this summer :)

Someone here recommended the Dresden Files series to me, by Jim Butcher. I read the first book, Storm Front, and I am definitely hooked.

Leviathan, Paul Auster

Pattern Recognition, William Gibson
Spook Country, ibid

Woken Furies, Richard Morgan

A Madness of Angels, Kate Griffin

You should specifiy what type of fiction. I read supernatural/sci fi type fiction but there's a whole bucket load of fiction (like girly fiction for example) that I won't touch.

I guess I like thrillers and anything with action. Jack Reacher just fucks guys up. it all adds up to awesomeness.

Fiction:
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - starts with "Relic" (they made a movie bout it... pretty shitty one too) and just keep reading the entire series.
"The Last Templar" by Raymond Khoury - I find it better than Angels and Demons.
James Rollins books - LOVE those!

Sci Fi/ Fantasy
Forgotten Realms Series. All of it :)

I didn't read much fiction,

1984 - must read.
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy - laughing alone while reading a book was weird for me, but very enjoyable book lol

Hmm well you should probably go with the rest of the recommendations in the thread. If you ever want to check out horror/thriller check out Richard Laymon. He's WAY fucked up. It's not usually supernatural but sometimes he does that. Mostly it's just about how much we are all really animals. Anyways you want to ease into him gently, which is hard to do with him. I would recommend [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Traveling-Vampire-Show-Richard-Laymon/dp/0843948507/ref=pd_sim_b_4/175-1477692-5060445]Amazon.com: The Traveling Vampire Show: Richard Laymon: Books[/ame] (not aff link) (This is actually one of his rare jaunts into the supernatural but it's really more about the characters and less about the supernatural element, I think)

In the latest novel from Laymon (The Midnight Tour), 16-year-old Dwight and his two pals, male Rusty and female Slim, decide to add some excitement to an otherwise boring summer day in 1963 by sneaking into "The Traveling Vampire Show." This adults-only act, featuring "Valeria, the only known vampire in captivity," is visiting their rural town of Grandville for just one night. Dwight narrates the events of that day, all the way through to the terrifying finale. The three friends are for the most part typical teens, but they are tested that day in ways none of them could ever have imagined. Although the protagonists are high school age, this novel is so replete with graphic sexual situations and violence that it would not be suitable for young adult collections. It is, however, a well-written story that will appeal to fans of horror fiction.

Motherless Brooklyn ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/Motherless-Brooklyn-Jonathan-Lethem/dp/0375724834"]Motherless Brooklyn[/ame]) by Jonathan Lethem

Started reading it this week because of, I'll admit, Tim Ferriss' recommendation.

About a detective with Tourette's. Brilliant narration.

That entire series is great.

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

One of the best fantasy series, although the last book in the series wasn't anything special and he's taking his sweet time releasing the next book.

Ender's Game was an awesome book, but I'm not really a fan of the other books released in that series.

Other great books/series:

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

A Fire Upon the Deep & A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge

Hyperion by Dan Simmons (plus the other 3 books in this series)

Gardens of the Moon by Stephen Erikson (big series: Malazan Book of the Fallen)

The first book in the Gardens of the Moon series gets very complicated, but if you stick with it, you should really enjoy all the books in the series. Very rich world.

Any of the Vince Flynn novels. His Protagonist, Mitch Rapp, is a CIA operative and very bad ass. I think you'd like him. Read them in order.

Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Should be required reading for all.

The Collectors and First family by David Baldicci (sp.) were good. He had some other fast moving novels too.
