I would submit domains to this, but the risk is too great nothing seems to be selling at reasonable price and since you have to pay up front it's just not worth it.

This was my concern too. I offered up a few of my decent AM related domains to try and spark interest with this crowd, but there is no way I would risk my better domains on here yet. Even with a reserve, the results (or lack thereof) could negatively impact future attempts at selling it on Flippa, Sedo etc.

Links.biz = $100? Seems like interest is waning Charlie- time to step it up.

This is a marathon, not a race and at this point (as mentioned previously), it's all a matter of figuring out what the market wants. I'm putting my own domains at risk and yeah, I'm gonna lose money in some or even most cases (since I'm willing to auction all of 'em with a starting bid of $1 and no reserve: my loss, your gain) but I knew things would unfold this way.

Since this is a case study thread, I don't mind letting you guys know what's going on in my head: I don't think I can figure everything out in a week, I don't think I can figure everything out in two. How long will it take? I honestly don't know but I know this much: I'll learn something each and every day, I'll take feedback into consideration and I'll work like a maniac ;)

Oh, I almost forgot, there are about 4 hours left 'till today's auctions end:

Uncontent.com

Powerful one-word dot com domain, a term more and more people are using these days. "Uncontent" is the polite way of saying "pissed off" and economically speaking, 95% of the world’s population can be categorized as either “uncontent” or “soon to be uncontent”!

Any one of these .coms are worth 4 figures to an end user and they have development value as well, buyers are getting some fucking insane deals.

Yep, it's definitely a buyer's market. Prices are currently at 2005 levels, people who are getting in now have a HUGE advantage (just like most folks who started domaining back in let's say 2008 had it a lot harder).

Not long to go and look at some of those prices. I can see some people getting some bargains. Nice one Charlie: great concept and I sincerely hope it works out for you. And it should.

Thanks man and I agree, there are LOTS of bargains. Just look at PoliticalWeblog.com, the best possible domain for a political blog aside from PoliticalBlog.com (try getting that one for under 5 figs)... currently at 11 bucks :)

Here are the auctions which started today at 2 PM EST:

If find this thread a heck of a lot more interesting than your site. The main reason, is I like to read your descriptions before looking at the auctions.

Have you considered your home page to have these decriptions (mini-sells pitch) with a big fat button that says "Click To See Auction".?

That way you make your pitch first then let people see the prices.

Never underestimate the power of stupidity. Even an experienced domainer will be influenced by an attractive description. An unexperienced one, even more so.

Excellent point. I just browsed through the current site and felt the same way.

The descriptions can be found on the bid pages but yeah, you're right, I need to make them stand out. We'll be switching to a new design in a few days (thanks dreamache!) and the bid page will also be affected.

Perhaps you may want to consider describing what kind of payment term
is expected by sellers for each domains description page.

Seller may want...
escrow.com only
your escrow service.
escrow.com sedo.com
escrow.com sedo.com paypal

And if seller is requiring escrow, who is paying for the escrow fee?

I think all these need be displayed, so, there wouldn't be any issues
about how winner is expected to pay and who is responsible for any fees.
