I really wanted a 27" for the new mac I'm getting, but my friend said honestly it makes his eyes really tired when he uses it a long time, which I'll be doing.

He said 23.5" was perfect, although honestly that looks kind of small to me... yet I haven't used a monitor bigger than a 17" laptop before so I have no idea if that would change after actually using one.

I was thinking of going with 25" 5-star rated on from tiger direct

Hannspree HF257HPB 25" Class Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1080p, 1920x1080, 16:9, 15000:1 Dynamic, 800:1 Native, 2ms, VGA, HDMI, Integrated Speakers at TigerDirect.com

never heard of the company but it has awesome reviews

do you guys see anything wrong with this? I'm plugging it into my new macbook pro

I have two Hannspree 22" monitors that I bought on a whim from Best Buy a while back (2 years ago). I was just walking by the monitors and saw that they were $200 apiece, which was cheap enough to get my attention. I just picked 'em up and took them home.

I have them running on a windows machine and they work fine. Neither has ever had so much as a dead pixel, though the power button kind of sticks on one. That's only been the last couple of months or so.

If you're doing really hardcore design stuff then you may want to stay away from them because I'm sure the picture is better on more expensive, reputable monitors but if you're just gonna use it for day-to-day surfing, non-design work stuff then I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Dual 16:10 24"s would be ideal for me, but I'm stuck with a 16:10 and 16:9 24" at the moment - I'd rather do something over a 24" if I'm stuck with 16:9 full HD monitors, to increase screen space, but I'd also be fine with a 16:10 24" and a 4:3 19", since they're the same height. 3 19" 4:3 monitors work well on one of my setups, but it might be better if I did my 16:10 24" with a 19" 4:3 on each side. That seems to concentrate the majority of the screen real estate on the main monitor, but give more space on the side at an angle that is easy on the eye/neck from the position of looking at the main screen.

I went from an 18" to 22", which was quite a jump in resolution for me. I don't really care about the size, since it doesn't mean crap to me if I can work on a 55" HDTV, if the resolution is low.

Will probably upgrade to 24" soon, but not until I find a good deal on one with a higher resolution than 1920 x 1080.

I dunno, man. I'm definitely no designer. To me, the screen is fine. Looks as good as any Dell monitor I've ever seen. But I know lots of designers are really finicky about some specs so I put in the disclaimer that if you're looking to do design-heavy stuff they may not be the monitors for you. Or they could be perfectly fine. Why not run up to BestBuy tomorrow and see them in action for yourself? Hell, you may get lucky with a really good memorial day sale.

dont gett my started on fuckign faggot bestbuy. all they had were 22" monitors, and the guy just fed me a load of BS when I asked him to tell me details about the HD. I literally saw it in his eyes making shit up on the spot to sell it to me, so I stared at him blankly and eventually he was like "uhhrhh ohh umm.. yeah hey.. uh.. let me get someone to help you who knows more"

I dont know if I could live without my 30 now.
The high resolution is awesome for pretty much everything

There's your mistake...you presumed the mouth-breathing BB employee actually knew anything. I was just saying to walk in and take a look at the Hannsprees they had on display to see if they suited your needs.

Or don't. But try not to get bent out of shape when a BB employee doesn't know anything about the products. You're gonna have to set your standards in life a bit lower than that. :)

Good luck, bro.

point is tho they dont have shit there as far as monitors.. they only had acers and selection wasnt any good.

ill check out some other office stores prolly

have you used it for over 5 or 6 hours at a time?

do your eyes get even remotely tired, or do you wish even a little bit it was smaller?

The only way you will know for sure what you prefer is to go and buy it at the store. If you don't like it, return it.. exchange it, whatever. What works for somebody else, might not work for you.
