Kid was 16 and he got kilt deader than a doornail by a swarm of cops in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart along with his crazy ass dad.

1. Bullet 1 could have hit dumbfuck thief 1 = 1 count
2. Bullet 1 could have hit dumbfuck thief 2 = 1 count
3. Bullet 2 could have hit dumbfuck thief 1 = 1 count
4. Bullet 2 could have hit dumbfuck thief 2 = 1 count

So in other words...

1 man defending his property = 4 counts of attempted murder = our justice system is fucked
 
Shooting someone is only not an excessive action when your life is in danger as then it's "protection". He wasn't in danger, therefore phone the pigs. He deserves to go to jail.
 
The old man did the right thing and I hope the jury acquits him.

Thieves, robbers and illegal aliens should be aware that they have to fear death if they threaten either life or property of American citizens.

DA is a douchebag and this type of incident should lose him the next election, unless Jefferson County is a complete liberal shithole.

Hopefully the locals do not wait till the next election and recall the asshole right away.

This was CO, but it would have been legal and the homeowner would not be charged in TX, especially if the theft occurred after dark. Maybe the homeowner will get light sentencing if convicted, but I think that's a big if.

Yeah you're right no one should ever get hurt over a physical object. I mean think about it what were those nut jobs that shot at the British during the revolutionary war were fighting for? Their main grievance was money (taxes) which seems like a physical object to me. Obviously they were very wrong because it can never be right to shoot people over stuff.

This guy has a right to his stuff and that scumbag was attempting to deprive him of that right. If the piece of shit wasn't stealing stuff he wouldn't have gotten shot, he got exactly what he deserved imo.

Seriously?? It is that thought process and the kind of crap that happened in this story that is the number one reason crime is getting so out of hand.

In most places the criminals just do whatever the fuck they want and the homeowners and honest people get the shaft. If you live in a big city the cops could care less about your property.

Someone pulls up to my house and starts stealing stuff they get a 9mm in then head if the dogs do not get to them first.

The old guy probably wishes he lived in Texas. Joe Horn incident Crazy old guy went and shot two guys robbing his neighbors house and got no billed. You seriously have to love texas.

I don't care what the situation is, you have to avoid taking a life if possible. He could have shot them in the legs.
 
The thing is, the story made it sound like he was in no physical danger, in which case shooting someone in the face is definitely excessive. I mean the guys were driving away for crying out loud. It's not like they were speeding towards him to run him down and he was trying to protect himself...

It's like shooting someone in the back. You just don't do it unless they have done something to you a lot more serious than stealing your trailer. Yes thieves are scumbags but still ...
 
I wonder if all these folks who say that shooting someone for stealing from them are willing to put their money where there mouth is.

If I was a thief I would see who lives in good neighborhoods and target those who have liberal political signs in their yard. The odds of walking away from the crime will be much greater than those with conservative signs.

In this case he shouldn't have taken the shot, unless it is true they aimed the moving vehicle directly at him. No one here seems to have read that, and he did make that only statement. However you couldn't be more wrong, shooting someone over a physical object can be right. Generally the recourse for recovering losses is not easy, and if you don't have insurance or they steal cash, you aren't getting anything back. That man may need that trailor to provide for himself and his family, and he may not be able to just get a new one if he allows someone to steal it. Sorry but if someone tries to take my means to provide for my family, by committing a forcible felony, I will take use force.

Once again, he stated they were in fact trying to run him down during their escape efforts. I do agree you should not shoot someone in the back, not worth it on so many levels, especially when considering the legal ramifications.

haha, nice quote. everyone just wants the law to suit themselves and to perfectly match their value system. which is perfect because i've never stolen a thing in my life and don't plan to. your man was dead right to shoot them. death for stealing a trailer might seem harsh but fuck 'em, the world is better off without those kind of people.
