$1000 Litecoin!!!

I've got my bitcoins, I'll be alright. I don't see the need for more than 1 digital currency and bitcoin has far more reach at the moment, so mass adoption by the masses would be a lot sooner.

Agreed. Litecoin isn't going anywhere that bitcoin isn't going first, but I like picking up batches of the smaller currencies every now and then because they can grow a lot faster (then sell them off and put the money into bitcoin).

One more thing about ltc..

If (when) digital currencies truly hit their tipping point.. and if ltc is even anywhere close to btc.. then I've gotta believe that there are plenty of powerful entities that would prefer not make an anonymous person the richest person in the world..

The creator of ltc didn't pre-mine it.. which means he didn't get a huge head start at acquiring what could be one of the many foundational elements of a fully digital economy..

If it HAD to between btc and ltc.. The real whales certainly wouldn't their money into the one that would create a super duper fucking rich anonymous guy.. they'd pump/promote ltc.

Bitcoin is so far ahead though I don't think it would be rational to invest more in litecoin than in bitcoin. The wait time is irrelevant because whether someone pays at a POS with BTC or LTC the merchant is still going to give them the product immediately, not ask them to wait around for a few minutes for the confirmations.

There is really no need for 2 different currencies that are essentially exactly the same. But then again, there was no need for 2 different HD formats, or 2 different Myspaces (ie. Facebook), or any of the other stupid shit that people buy into. So who knows. The only thing I find annoying is when people "know" that bitcoin will dominate, or they "know" that bitcoin will crash. Like nigga, stfu, that's why it's called "speculating."

Looks like peercoin is the next big thing, but it won't be as big as bitcoin though.

Care to share more info on this? Its really cheap and looks like i can buy around 50-60 peercoins with my peasantry monies.

Be careful with the altcoins. Do some research. Most are just pump and dump schemes designed to get more bitcoins. It's the Wild West out there.

@dante from what I understand, peercoin is the most technologically superior, but I still don't think it will overthrow bitcoin/litecoin because it's just too far behind. The others you listed are just pump and dumps - whether the creators intended for them to be or not I can't say, but that's all they're used for at the moment so not the best time to buy in. Especially with the ridiculous ones like "anon coin" and "thc coin"

And you move in on the buy side. It's as if at the height of the rebill craze, you'd have figured to get some of those juicy bizopps. Feel good about yourself some more.

Also... What the fuck is with all the crypto/btc haters around this place.

There are potential pros and cons in regard to any type of investment, especially long term. The same applies to the amount of success that something will have in terms of currency usage.

Saying that it is "hate" to talk about potential negatives, or to talk about the economic properties of something - that is the type of thing that cults, shady MLMs and ponzi schemes do.

We could take a room full of economists and it's possible that every one of them is a big "lover" of something like baseball cards or fine art, but under a complete analysis they are all going to recognize that baseball cards are small pieces of cardboard that can't be used to vacuum your floor.

Here's a fucking newsflash for those that lack the insight:

YOU ARE WITNESSING THE BIRTH OF A NEW MARKET - POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST IN THE HISTORY OF SOCIETY - DIGITAL CURRENCIES.

Well, E-gold was around in the 90s. The other "fucking newsflash" is that speculators love big new emerging markets, which can lead to things like :

Crypto-Trade PPC/USD

The price of 1 PPC on 22nd Nov was $1 and currently its $6.5.

I hear ya. I've recently traded in some bitcoins for LTC and PPC just to see if I can make some more BTCs in the process. :1bluewinky: We'll see...

They don't have the power to pump ltc though. Not even close.

The problem is confidence in the security of the network. (Other than the obvious problem of lack of merchant adoption.) The difference between bitcoin's mining network and the litecoin mining network is like a Dozen orders of magnitude in hashing power! No one can trust that the gooberments can't destroy litecoin's mining network through a 51% attack. That's laughable... I could probably put together a kickstarter and do it myself!

Since you can't confidently store value there, as the 'real whales' pour money into it, most people would cash out relatively soon... Until eventually the ONLY money in litecoin is the whale's money itself, and the price would drive up really, really fast until they can't afford to buy the last few litecoins.

Congrats whales, you just spent a trillion bucks to control your own currency that no one wants. Lulz.

anybody here doing mining of any of these?
There are quite a few litecoin/feathercoin miners creeping around here I probably shouldn't out. I'd say I've talked to at least 5 of them so far.

I mined LTC for about a week a month or so ago. Stopped when the price went down. Started again a couple of days ago. I have about 1 LTC now.

I'm pretty sure I haven't used anywhere close to $30-$40 in electricity. I think I'm going to get a kill a watt monitor thing though and see how much I'm actually using though. My head is spinning trying to figure it out and reading bitcointalk forums.

I'd like to figure that out and then figure out which currency produces the most at the time of mining.

litecoin? come on...

Because there is no reason that there is only one crypto. That is as you say: We only need one share stock.

IF you believe in crypto then in the system, not BTC as entity only.

And of course is BTC in the first place a speculation thing. Its complete nonsense to believe people pay $1k+ for BTC because its the next currency or why you an pay with in in some online shop or such nonsense. You can get rich in $ with it. Thats what gives BTC value.

It does feel pretty good to not be a dumb ass.

I'll bump this thread in 6 months.

I just started reading into Litecoin mining, thought I would give it a try...

Got set up with a pool in a few minutes..let me PC mine all night.

Woke up this morning....BOOOOM!!! .0001 Litecoins!

Called work, gave my 2 weeks notice baby!

I don't see why BTC and LTC can't co-exist. I think it's getting pretty absurd with all these different coins, but what the hell, let people do their thing. Some will disappear, some will thrive.

Crypt-currency is basically the online equivalent of cash transactions. If I go buy a new laptop in cash, I don't need to verify the purchase with some other company, who I have to provide photo ID & utility bill to, sign agreements saying I'm not a money laundering terrorist, and hope they let me buy my laptop without restricting my account. Instead, I just open my wallet, hand them cash, no questions asked, and 10 mins later I'm walking out with a smile and new laptop in hand.

That's what crypto-currency is, but for the online world. And we have 170 some world currencies, so why can't we have several crypto-currencies?
