I think Efeezy was posting an intentional Sumit clone post as a joke. I've seen other people post Sumit clones as well. They're just more ardent followers of Sumit than the rest of us!

I'm looking for a creative way to promote an island for sale. It's been on the market for nearly two years and the seller is eager to find a buyer, so he has upped the ante. It's listed at ~$30mil and is a good deal for someone with the funds and interest in finishing up the resort construction.

I was thinking of building a site/contest and offer a big reward upon the sale of the island for every lead. My initial thought was to give $100,000 for the referral of the buyer and $1,000 for each pre-qualified lead referral. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to offer the rewards until the sale is complete, but I figured the size of the rewards would stir up some interest and encourage spreading the word in a (hopefully) viral manner.

Thoughts? Ideas?

You might consider some VERY highly targeted marketing. As an example, get a hold of one of the companies selling lists of folks in places like Atherton, CA or South Kensington, Mayfair, Belgravia (etc) in London or the 10021 zip in NYC (Upper East side).

Similarly, hit up places like dream homes magazines or other places that target HNWI or in this case shoot for the ULTRA HNWI market (think marquisjets.com, netjets.com).

Get some banner ads on their sites.....

Then try banners or links on places like NY Social Diary, the blog ParkAvenuePeerage.com and WashingtonLife.com magazine.

As I said, get ridiculously targetted...

Also try banners on places like Asmallworld.net (run by a Swede you probably know this one....)

Try places like The Purse Blog (and no you can't use my username, lol)...Seriously, get some wives to bug the bloody hell out of their husbands...

Lastly, try buying banner ads and/or direct sales on the websites of places like The top alumni clubs in NY or the top private clubs in USA, Europe and the Wealthier Asian Countries....
Alot of people still don't know the power of the web and you could probably get cheaper ads on some of these places than traditional media....

Now pay me my referral bonus :P

Good luck bro......

Yeah you busted me. I'm summit.

Are you kidding me? I had to re-write that like 3 times to get it to sound that ridiculous. There's no damn way I'd have the patience to come up with posts like that every time. Let alone, having to type "hello friend", "good luck bro" on EVERY DAMN POST. Being Summit can't be an easy existence.

Have you considered running an essay contest? I've seen this done a few times for luxury homes, but those were priced at less than a million dollars. You could do something similar with a twist since the sales price is so high. Design the contest with a $1,200 entry fee along with their essay that describes why they should be the winner of the island. Your goal is to promote the essay contest and bring in 5,000 entries for a total collection of $6,000,000 entry fees. Once you select a winner, they can use this money as their 20% downpayment on the $30 million sales price.

The remainder of $24,000,000 could be financed by the new buyer, or you could partner with a sweepstakes company to purchase an insurance policy that pays out the total amount once a winner is selected. In the meantime you would have to pay the insurance premiums, the costs to promote the contest, and probably other fees for outsourcing some of the work.

I think this could really work, but you'll have to put some thought into it to make it fit your purposes.

I might be interested in buying this island if it's outside the jurisdiction of any Country, thus allowing me to hunt people with my elephant gun.

No no no

Real Estate land commissions to the agent are at least 10% maybe more. That is $3 million. $100k aint shit. someone is making all the money and it aint the affiliate who spends money up front on this.

Yeah exactly, 100k commission? GTFO.

If it hasn't sold in two years being listed in all the high end publications, it's overpriced!!

Good luck bro!
