2012 New Years Resolutions

Yours?

Me, 2011 sucked. I started out strong, built upcominggames.com from scratch, forums included, spread myself thin across even more new projects, but I ignored my existing projects and because of that, I made a tad bit less than I did last year.

AND
This year I'm focusing on my strengths, what makes me money and expanding on them. It's exciting starting new projects, but I have to resist that temptation until I've absolutely maxed out my ability to earn from existing projects..
So 2012 for me is all about truly diversifying my income and making money from at least 2 other unrelated sources, by focusing on my current projects. I have a lot that are already developed that I've abandoned because I get bored of them. Time to break that cycle and stick with my strengths/projects that have potential.

Are these kind of contrasting? I'm assuming you mean a combination of using your strengths to regain lost income and then apply your strengths to different areas. In my humble opinion, find a way you can use your strengths as a consultant. If you're really good at what you are doing, it's not hard to charge $150 an hour for consulting work. Most of the work is generally mid-level stuff anyways so it's super easy.

Regardless, happy holidays. Sorry to hear about your friend man :crap:

make money. Sex pretty girls. Travel. Try opium. Ride an elephant to my high school reunion, wearing a cape. Build a time machine.

My question is, why do fat mother fuckers insist on waiting for New Year to lose weight? Why not summer resolutions? Too busy BBQ'in? Someone answer this question, it's one of my life's biggest question, next to why teach entrepreneur class in high school when the teacher clearly ISN'T an entrepreneur.

Because they are trying to lose weight FOR THE SUMMER - so they can wear the bikinis and all that :D and then eat so much BBQ that they would have to start again in the NewYear. There is a simple answer for ya!

This year I'm focusing on my strengths, what makes me money and expanding on them. It's exciting starting new projects, but I have to resist that temptation until I've absolutely maxed out my ability to earn from existing projects.. and I'm no where near that.

I've also learned a very valuable lesson within the last 2 weeks. Don't fucking become complacent with your income. While I make money from multiple sites, they're all fueled from the rankings of a single domain. If those SERPs are lost, I'm fucked all around.

Talk about stressed out as fuck lately with the diminished traffic due to the holidays, significantly reduced sales, death of a cousin new years eve (best friend growing up), making my mind whacked the fuck out thinking I'm done for.. But I'm confident it'll pick back up in January; but the lesson learned is to not become complacent. I've maintained steady income from steady rankings for over 4 years, but I need to rip my head out of my ass and start creating new sources of income because that shit won't last much longer.

So 2012 for me is all about truly diversifying my income and making money from at least 2 other unrelated sources, by focusing on my current projects. I have a lot that are already developed that I've abandoned because I get bored of them. Time to break that cycle and stick with my strengths/projects that have potential.

Oh, and fitness wise since most new years resolutions deal with health, I'm all about running a 5k in less than 23 mins and curbing my appetite for alcohol. ;)

as the OP, I can confidently say I fucking failed in 2012.

I thought long and hard about this as I've had a terrible year.

Saw margins getting smaller and smaller, tried to reshape & remodel the whole field of view and get an "outside view" on the bigger picture, and I decided on 1920 x 1200.

Sorry chaps. groan etc.

But wait? MH - You realise this is an age old joke right?

Yep - Fixed pixel widths are shit!! Did you not take any note of the merit of fluid grid a long time ago and integrate it as part of the primary design brief when considering mobile markets? Do you want to hit any mobile market at all?

Yes - I did, and I'm still shocked at how many sites are rubbish in this respect. (Really though, apps are 2013 - and they're fucking piss-easy too... responsive is at least expected in this day and age, so get off your lazy fuck arses and - er be a lazy fuck by making a simple mobile version from the start...)

Happy new year all.

May 2013 be wonderfully prosperous for those worthwhile people here, and mediocre at best for others.
You're all teaching a great deal, dividends for all.

New Years Resolutions:

1) Learn to shave with a hunting knife
2) Learn to play the Harmonica.

Harmonica has already been acquired, still looking for a good enough hunting knife.

I can jam out a mean "rock around the clock" with a harmonica. Everyone thought I was the coolest in 3rd grade, then our teacher bought everyone a harmonica in the class and had a professional harmonica player come in; one of my few pleasant memories of public school.
