8.8 Quake

Watch the cnn live feed. Thats some day after tomorrow shit.

*edit found one on youtube
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD9JnGwbkjw"]YouTube - Japan hit by 8.9 earthquake[/ame]

I'm in Osaka and I felt it here, though here it felt like a 3.5 or 4.

My friends in Tokyo having been talking about it and it sounds insane. Apparently buildings are still swaying an hour after the quakes stopped. That's how powerful it was.

Everyone's talking about Tokyo, but a major city called Sendai (population 1 million +) is really close to the epicenter and it must be fucked. I heard the Sendai airport got hit by a 10 meter tsunami!!

The more I learn the scarier it gets.

edit: I'm watching the live stream on Al Jazeera (I don't have a tv) and they are showing the Sendai airport. It's fucking underwater!

earthquakes are common in Japan, indonesia etc but anything above 8 will be devastating.

I remember back in 2008, when indonesia was stuck with 8.9 something earthquake and in singapore, it felt so bad i fell off chair while watching TV. couldn't even stand properly and the apartment next to me was literally shaking as if it will fall anytime. me and my wife both literally rushed down 19 floors within mins

Ya. We dodged the bullet in hawaii last year. Everybody ran for the hills and the cops literally arrested people who went near the beach.

wow... thats some fucking scary shit....watching the footage right now is just saddening. Got a feeling the U.S might be next for some serious shit. I remember scientists saying we're due for a big one.

Japan is a prepared country talking about erathquakes but this shit is insane, I mean how often do you see something like this

Tsunami alerts has been triggered all along American continent, from USA to Chile, crazy and scary shit

Anyone from japan ? Stay strong bros. Shits going nuts in Waikiki. The sirens already sounding and gas stations have hugggge lines.

the rekon that the West coast of the states will expect 3-4 ft sea rises. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that only like 1.2m which is peanuts in the scheme of things. the japs just copped 9-12m waves and the west coast of the states is going to get 1.2... it is almost like why bother panicing everyone unless they are on the beach..

yea and what does this article says about 19th march ?

Will March 19 'Supermoon' Trigger Natural Disasters? - Yahoo! News

On March 19, the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 221,567 miles (356,577 kilometers) away. On top of that, it will be full. And one astrologer believes it could inflict massive damage on the planet.

Richard Nolle, a noted astrologer who runs the website astropro.com, has famously termed the upcoming full moon at lunar perigee (the closest approach during its orbit) an "extreme supermoon."
When the moon goes super-extreme, Nolle says, chaos will ensue: Huge storms, earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters can be expected to wreak havoc on Earth.

According to John Vidale, a seismologist at the University of Washington in Seattle and director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, particularly dramatic land and ocean tides do trigger earthquakes. "Both the moon and sun do stress the Earth a tiny bit, and when we look hard we can see a very small increase in tectonic activity when they're aligned," Vidale told Life's Little Mysteries, a sister site to SPACE.com.
