I know what they're saying - I just didn't think anyone actually believed it.

I should convince you of something that should be blindingly obvious? That's rich.
Actually, it's not obvious at all...
As far as I'm concerned, we're just another species of animal. Hell, as an omnivore in the truest sense (whale's overated, btw) I'd probably be eating people if the meat was legally available, just to give it a go.
That's how special I think human beings are.

Now, you tell me, what's so special about humans, other than that we figured out how to bash other animals over the head with a rock and eat them before they did to us all those hundreds of thousands of years ago?

Obviously our opposable thumbs. Duh.

You're joking, right? Anything that has ever been invented in history is due to humans. You know...cars, planes, computers, cell phones, electricity, television, nuclear weapons, ships, culture, language, sports, etc...

Good lord, I hope you don't represent the majority of people on here..

How are those material things of any more significance than the ability to find food, to breed, to look after our offspring, to work together as a community, to defend ourself or to adapt to our environment.

Other animals had the really important shit sussed long before us humans arrived.

We are certainly no better (or rather, no more significant) than other living things and as far as our planet goes we are probably the worst thing that has happened to it.

HarveyJ - I'm with you on the eating humans thing... I'd love for my body to be eaten or fed to animals after I die, it seems to me the best use of it after any organs and tissues that can be re-used have been. But no.. for some fucked up reason only worms seem to get that honour.

That seriously doesn't explain how we're better than other species.
If anything, it explains how we're lazier, more destructive and self genocidal.

Also, language and sports (or basic leisure activities that have rule sets) are behaviours that have been observed in other primates.

And your point begs the following logical extremism: Say an advanced alien culture tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of years more advanced than we are ame about and simply saw us as another food source because in their eyes we're barely beyond brine shrimp, what exactly would have to say to them?
If it was that previous list, I'd be getting naked and smearing myself in dijjon mustard...

LazyHippy: Seeing as I doubt cannibalism is going to become legal at any point in the near future, and burial space is literally the most expensive real estate on earth, I'm actually thinking of getting turned into a diamond, and from there, a family heirloom. Already have a brochure from www.lifegem.com

Wow there's a little unborn baby grasping for life. How cute - now lets kill it. He would choose to survive.
Pro choice for babies rights.

That's a cool idea.

Personally, I really want as much as poss recycled! I've been on the organ donor register here for the last 13 years, just a little box to tick when getting driving licence, easy enough yet so many people don't do it and leave it to their families to have to make that decision :ugone2far:... and it looks like like they are giving up on the idea of presumed consent/opt-out... shame. :(

It's amazing what they can use now.. not just organs and corneas, but blood vessels, skin, tendons, cartilidge (then there's the odd case of face & limb transplants too)...

I take it you pro-lifers are all making sure you donate what you can after you die?

I couldn't imagine anything more hypocritical than someone wanting to save the (future)life of an unborn fetus/child, yet not being prepared to donate their (no longer needed) organs and tissues to save the life of someone who really needs it.

Not sure how donating your organs is an abortion issue.
Just hope they wont rush you to the quickly take his organs table. After all humans are perfect and can be trusted. Kidding.

Sorry, is kinda off on a tangent. Although it's not entirely unrelated - isn't giving parts of your body to help another live the ultimate act of pro-life?

What do you mean?! Of course we are perfect - We are creating in God's image and is he not perfect and completely trustworthy? ....Or maybe he was actually helping his early affiliates write their bullshit-tell-em-what-they-want-to-hear sales pitch? ;)

How to reason with lunacy? You've already said you think there's no difference between humans and animals. Once I heard that, I'd heard enough. Some people are rational. Others are brainwashed. I don't attempt to reason with the latter.

Humans are animals you tool, go learn some biology.

Historically, most pro lifers were against organ donation. You know the unnatural order being an abomination to their god and all that jazz.

Is there a level of understanding you just choose not to cross.
Think about the human mind, think about a mind like Einsteins. Give yourself some credit dumb ass.

I was never talking about biology.
