I've been getting asked this a lot, but I want to make sure it's something that we really think about and address I guess.

Should we make a section on WickedFire for adult webmasters, affiliates, site owners, traffic, designers, etc. Basically a channel within WickedFire dedicated to the adult industry online?

Personally I don't have any issues with it, but is it really needed? I mean, there are TONS of adult forums around, and they are pretty well established in providing the industry what they need, in terms of resources, news and content.

I don't want WF to get too spread out (not spread eagle you pervert!) in terms of reaching too far out of our industry. Partly because when you think of topical industries, we are considered mainstream (everything non-adult, gambling or pharma) and they have a pretty fucking huge industry with their own set of rules, community and issues.

I dunno.. it's a tough decision for me.

What are your thoughts?

Before anyone thinks of or says anything about the advertising and maybe advertisers not wanting to be associated with it, we are going to be removing the ads for our own platform anyhow. We'll also have a completely seperate channel so that no adult ads or regular ads will be mixed in eachother's channels.

you should make a pills, porn, and pushers(best p i could come up with for casino, prolly dont even make sense, my excuse is the weed haha) section if anything

Given my stronghold in the adult industry, I would totally be in there. :p

But in all honesty, I don't see people asking about it too much/often, but maybe I am just not noticing?

IMO, I wouldn't add a section unless a topic is dominating a more general section. But that's just me. :) I like the idea of sticking to what you're known for and kick ass at versus doing something because you could *probably* get a section going for it.

But then again, I don't claim to know anything about anything. :anon.sml:

Well, seeing how you were once very involved in the Adult industry, I just have a feeling it would bring up some stuff and this forum as a whole would end up focusing on that section. But at the same time, being as knowledgeable as you are in that particular field, if people would like to know more about it, it would be the perfect opportunity for them.

From what I've learned though, like Laura basically said, its usually better to make a new forum section if topics about it (idk if you include boobie topics with this) are becoming too much for a particular section to handle in itself. I haven't seen much of a demand for it here thus far unless ofcourse you do see "boobie topics" as people wanting to learn more about the adult industry.

I agree with Laura... a good signal a new "area" is needed would be if you saw a lot of adult threads that were starting to appear in a given forum... but I have seen very few to date.

So a NEW adult section would merely create a new mini community of adult web developers and keep their newly created topics relegated to that forum. i see no problem in that. But again... it would seem you are intentionally trying to spark interest in an area and drive new conversation for a topic that hasn't seemed to dominate the existing forum.

  • Have you firmly established, positioned and accomplished the original goals, agendas and intentions of WickedFire?
  • What benefit does adult add that can not be accomplished throught the original concept?
  • What limitations does the adult add-on bring and do they outweigh the benefits?
Hell, I'd rather an all "BlackHat" version of WickedFire over an adult section.

I think you should re-evaluate your goals for the Wicked Fire forum. If having an adult webmaster section is in line with those goals and brings you closer to accomplishing them, then do it and I'm sure there will be plenty of support...because after all, who doesn't like porn?

Adult Industry these days is hard work. Why do I get the feeling that it wouldn't mesh too well with some of the people that come here :)

In any event I would be all for it. Adult Industry provides lots of keen insight into the general markets and vice versa.

Jon. Try it. If it doesn't work, the solution is simple: get rid of it. I'd be willing to bet that there's more than a few adult webmasters here who would love a section like that.

I am not an adult webmaster, but I've built adult landing pages for people, so I know they're around here somewhere.

Jon, This place is like mecca for all Affiliate marketers and Internet Geeks who make money online and if you bring in Adult Section it would drive them off.

If your really gonna make it then give an option while joining the forum asking every member if they wanna be apart of Adult forum section as well or not? If they choose then only they should be able to view it else not. If they don't want it well then keep it away from them. Certainly i will not be part of an adult section for sure.

Its perfectly fine to get the adult section in WF as I think its a very huge industry and WF will be able to gain something from it than nothin. Should give it a shot as there is a huge following for this kind of stuff on the internet and if there's nothin to lose than why not try it out.

As for what BDSandB mentioned about keeping the options open for the members whether they are interested in it not does not apply coz users who would like to visit that content will go for it and the ones who are not interested probably wont go so why the heck create options and all that shit though I'm not sayin its a bad idea.
