Jon, This place is like mecca for all Affiliate marketers and Internet Geeks who make money online and if you bring in Adult Section it would drive them off.

? What ? I'm sorry, I must have been looking at a different Wickedfire than you. The WF I'm familiar with embraces booby posts and sick jokes. So, how would a section devoted to helping people make money with boobies drive anyone away? :error:

Jon, I think you should not add an adult section. Keep WF only "mainstream"

The big G ,as well as others, cover all the adult bases just fine.

People are not going to ask about adult webmaster stuff on a board known for being mainstream for fear of being ostracized. Adult is the area where most of the software/ideas/inspiration for mainstream marketing comes from. Typically something will do well in Adult then mainstream will adopt that technique.

what would the WF adult section offer that the other adult-dedicated forums aren't already offering?

Are you kidding me? Adult is about 2 years behind mainstream in terms of technology, fuck, sponsors just started using RSS a little while ago and it doesn't even matter because most adult webmasters still use static html pages...

Anyways, about the question in hand, it would be a good idea from a business standpoint. Adult sponsors have more money then they know what to do with and they have no problem tossing it around, which is good because once the section gets built up a little it should be no problem selling the ad spots.

If it were my choice I'd go for it.

That's been my response the entire time.. And as for priorities go, an adult section is on the "perhaps" list, but definitely nowhere near the current top 10 at the moment.

I guess the reason I'm bringing it up is because the direction and focus of WickedFire is to constantly be innovating and changing itself to conform and be the leader within the ENTIRE internet marketing industry as a whole, with a few exceptions (pharma, spyware/adware, spam, gambling).

Adult is a commonly ignored industry in terms of giving credit to where it's due. It's the industry that practically invented everything we use today, and yet, they rarely get the nod they deserve, especially for pioneering hundreds of technological advances within the internet. Let's face it, without the adult industry, affiliate marketing, internet advertising/marketing, content delivery, social networking, billing/currency solutions, security, website design and development innovations and advances would be nowhere without them. So it's something we can't just ignore and say "let them handle it". I think WickedFire should be the first to at least accept the Adult industry and stop ignoring and segregating them from our industry. I know it's a controversial topic, but it doesn't have to be.

All I can say is that IF we do decide to go that route, it will become a seperate channel here. We're going to become an 18+ yr old requirement forum soon enough anyhow, so maybe when the time is right for it, we'll embrace our adult industry brothers and sisters with open arms.

It's not a question of will it happen, but when, because timing is everything. So far the polls here haven't been open for 24 hours, so we'll give it a full week because it's a big decision.

We already have September set for some really big launches and innovations here, so I definitely don't want to take away from that, but at the same time, I do think that the adult industry would benefit from a lot of the things we can share with them, since they have been doing a lot of good for us, and perhaps it's time we return the favor.

If you don't want to do it, or have any doubts about it's potential success, I'll spearhead the section, I'll get it going, I'll mod it, I'll get the advertisers, ect. ect.

Are you a psychic? Check out the post I made in the staff area, haha.

Just return the favor. It doesn't have to be right away.

Shoot you use to be big in the industry so revolutionize it.

just make it private and invite anyone that wants to get in it if you really want to create it.

I've done most of my affiliate marketing in adult so far, and spend a lot of time reading over on Netpond. But I think there are some people with experience here who could offer a lot to an Adult section of WF.

I'm all for it!

Most of my internet experience is in adult, and as much as I want to say yes I also want to say no. The only problem with having an adult area is attracting the dip shits that get banned from the other adult boards, and bring their idiotic nonsense over here. This is a very good board with real talk, and real experienced people talking, and having knowledgeable conversations about their particular field, or area of expertise.

Crap on a cracker. With the stuff in here so far and what you have planned, get that 18 thingie goin'! :zzwhip: I don't fancy you in stripes.

Maybe spawn a separate forum and link to it? Different branding and all.

It just seems like if WickedFire cant dominate it, why try to and cheapen the already awesome brand that is WickedFire.

....Huge Post Warning....

I'll be the first one to tell you straight up, that regardless of any new section or channel we launch, the FIRST priority and it remains the most important one for life on here is the quality of the members and content. Do you know why we have so few scammers, spammers, and douchebags here? Because we have a ton of security and monitoring that goes into this place. Not to censor the content or the users, but to ensure that even if we suspect someone at being a shady sob, they are flagged and watched.

Our banned list here is HUGE. Right now, we have 12,000 forum members, and a banned list of over 1700 members. Not to mention, we don't just ban people for trying to rip our members off, we take it to the next level and post ALL of their background information on here. Why? Not to be mean, but to set an example, so that everyone that is even considering pulling a scam on ANY members of WickedFire or through WickedFire will think twice about it. By all means, do what you want on other forums, because the most they'll do to you is just ban you and that's it. We have more than 10 mods here (all of them started out as regular members, and all of them are volunteers) CONSTANTLY monitoring the quality of the content and users. We're all aware of it being a never ending battle.

Sure, other forums are massive compared to us, and in terms of numbers, but when you compare what our advertisers say after a campaign on WickedFire compared to any other type of advertising on and offline, our results blow everyone out of the water. And I'm not just saying that because I own it, I'm saying it because it's fucking true, and even to this day, pretty surreal. (I feel like I say this way too much).

Even now, after being around for more than a year we still have lots of skeptics of this place. But most of them are the anonymous commentors at blogs who turn out to be internet tough guys, so it's no real concern when they refer to us as a bunch of HS and College kids, because when it comes down to it, WE have more medium to high level affiliates per square pixel than any other forum out there. Booyah.

Personally, I think if we do in fact make an adult section/channel we'll be going after the same target market that WickedFire itself goes after. The medium-high level affiliates. We don't want the newbies. No offense to them, but I'd much rather have 10,000 members that at least know their way around the industry, have had success already, are savvy enough to get by on their own and aren't pussy enough to be honest and upfront here than 100,000 members to just inflate the numbers. I doubt we'll ever have as many active members as the larger forums, but I know for a fact that we've already surpassed them in terms of quality in content and member status.

Maybe the adult industry can benefit from it or maybe they don't need us. Regardless, the polls are swaying us towards a yes vote, and the majority rule will decide on the final outcome. If we do end up doing it, I'll also make sure that anyone who is too much of a wuss to deal with adult won't mistakenly find it. We're also going to be VERY selective on whom we allow to participate in it and especially who is allowed to advertise there (if they have a bad rep, just like on here, it's a no-go, regardless of how much cash they have or are offering).

I haven't made any posts about this, but this is a rough idea about how our new channel layout works. Adding any new industry to WF won't be added in a way to hurt the brand whatsoever. I guess you'll see when it's done.

Getting a jump start on your blog Jon? :D

Gotta love ExoClick.
