You guys have any recommendations for the best alternative to xMarkPro? Any that offer bulk import that you KNOW are supported well?

I've been locked out of the main xmark control panel for almost a week now, due to some user auth code error.

Unanswered support tickets are almost a month old, and pm's to Matt here on wf, as well as emails to support@xmarkpro.com and matt@envrin.com are ignored.

Does anyone know if the platform has been sold? I see a monthly subscription is still offered (which I'd be happy to pay if I could just get some help/answers!). If so, PLEASE let me know.

I know I recommend xMarkPro in my sig without incentive, but I'd recommend no one buy it in any fashion, or any other product supported by Kiopa Systems, as it's not currently reliable and communication is down to nothing.

Matt did mention a couple months ago xMarkPro would be winding down, but I don't understand how it's still being sold if that's the case.

Locked out of managing 100+ sites, and getting ZERO response when you see someone active on the forum, is beyond fucking irritating.

I predict it being the Mexicans' fault.

Also, never use a product called "xMarkPro" InfiniteWP is your key to salvation.

Ouch, the new owner isn't going to like this thread much if it gets indexed.

And double ouch, I fucked up big time, didn't I? You xMarkPro guys don't have the account management features installed, which is why you're getting that error. Just released an upgrade, but that's no help to you, since you can't even login to install upgrades. Just sent you a PM with a resolution to the issue.

Yes, xMarkPro has been sold. I was planning on just winding it down, but a buyer showed up in my inbox. We're just working on getting everything transferred over to them now, and they should be fully running the ship on their own software platform hopefully within a week.

My apologies for the headache, and I'm sorry, but xMarkPro just isn't a priority for me at the moment. I seen a hole in the market, went for it, and it did actually pay off. When I first launched my only real competition was ManageWP, so xMarkPro did quite well for a good while. Nowadays there's well over a dozen competitors, and I simply can't compete with $50 sale prices, so I abandoned it.

Due to that and globalization, I've decided to concentrate solely on a custom devel firm, and building long-term relationships with quality clients. So far so good, and I should have my office opened shortly. That's the only path I can envision to a financially stable future, and so far, it's working nicely. Zero chance any of my clients are sending their workload to India, for example.

My apologies for the headache though, and you have a PM that should allow you back into managing your sites. Let me know if you have any additional issues though.

Wait. Let me get it straight. You sold the product and didn't let the users know??

^^

a) Tell everyone it's in the process of being sold, hence scaring them.

b) Wait for transition, and allow new owner to inform everyone it has been sold, and is now in good hands.

Take a wild guess at which I chose. That, and I did send out a mailing months ago informing everyone that it's winding down, so hopefully people will be happy knowing new owners will be at the helm shortly.

Oh hey did you all get the personal letter delivered by carrier pigeon when Anheuser-Busch was sold?

Yeah, actually you did.

I do not appreciate looking like an asshole in a meeting because I can't login to show a client an addon feature on a demo template created earlier in the month. Cost me about $2,600 which is probably recoverable if I over deliver, but looking like a retard in a scheduled client meeting is another story.

Thank you for the file, at least I can log in now and compile an export. Don't you guys have an email list to send out update notifications and big fixes?

I'm working on a free alternative that should be available soon - if anyone wants to talk about it a little bit more PM/Skype me.

Just realized it's prob a good time to come back and mention what needs to be fixed again, maybe save someone else some grief or at least give the new owners a head start.

To consider using XmarkPro again, you'll need to:

  1. Prove that it's reliably supported.
  2. Fix known issues -

  • Inability to create multiple accounts with the same domain prefix. Running networks, you're gonna have keyword overlap.
    • i.e. - houstonplumbers1.com - check
    • houstonplumbers2.com - fail
      • You need to randomize the last 2 chars in the account name string upon creation so this doesn't happen (user- houstonp already exists, and you might have 20 houston plumber sites)
  • Domain add failure
    • most of the time when new domains are added to the system, it fails the first time.
    • This leaves the domain added in the xmark control panel, but did not successfully create an account on the server
    • problem: a pswd entry is saved in the server lib
      • You need to add a failure check, so if a domain fails to be created, it doesn't leave the domain in the system. As it stands, you have to sftp and manually remove the existing pwd entry in order to add the domain a second time. You also have to wait however many minutes until the cron runs after adding and deleting... which turns a quick 3 minute process into a PITA. This happens a lot - cpanel/whm, stock liquidweb dedi config for reference
  • Package manager updates
