I just picked one up and it's fucking slick.
-It costs the same as the ad supported kindle fire (by default the Fires were all going to be ad supported, but in the first few days I guess enough people complained about that so they are offering an ad free version for $15 more. Cheesy).
-Has access to Google Play, and any other source that you want to download apps from.
-You can use the Kindle reader app on it.
-It works seamlessly with Google products such as Gmail, Google Music, and Google drive.
-It weighs almost 2 ounces less
-It has the newest version of the android operating system.
-It has a quad core processor compared to the Kindle's dual core.
-Amazon app store = 50,000 apps, Google Play = 600,000 apps
-Has a GPS, Kindle Fire does not.
-The only downside I saw was the $199 version of the Nexus has 8GB, whereas the Fire has 16GB. Personally I don't find this to be a big problem (yet) because I'm not storing music or videos on there anyway.
