AMD vs. Intel?

Worked awesome for Firewire. Oh wait, no it didn't...

Intel is behind thunderbolt as they invented it, where as firewire was all apple. HP already said they plan on rolling out thunderbolt on some of their computers by 2012. Many peripheral manufacturers already have working thunderbolt products, just not for sale yet. External graphics cards will actually be possible with thunderbolt. I think both will live together in some way though. Thunderbolt is a lot smaller though, which makes squeezing it into a small laptop a little easier.

usb3.0 is backwards compatible and will always beat the crap out of a product invented by an apple..

I used to be a fan of AMD. Got into them when I had no money, and during the times when Intel fucked up, AMD became the leader of the field.

Somwhow, though, they now managed to fuxxor everything, and I am betting my money on Intel for a few years now.

Yeah, I am not a brand loyalty advocate.

AMD has slowed down their updates/upgrades in the past.

Like emp, AMD powered my earlier machines just because they were so cheap. But as I got the moniez, it had to be intel.

I am not a techie when it comes to computer hardware and I read about the thunderbolt technology for the first time on this thread, still I have never once had a problem with Intel and I plan on sticking to it for the same reason.

AMD = Value
Intel = Performance

Thread I think.

I personally have a AMD Phenom six core and its handled everything I've thrown at it well. Heavy music and video editing are a breeze, plus does gaming well too.

I'd spend the cash which you save on the processor on other things like hookers and blow.

How/when did they fuck up?

FTR AMD here.

Price:Performance ratio unbeatable.

Since a kid I've only had INTEL. Right now i have a CORE2QUAD and it's great.

I tried to play games also, and it works smoothly :)

Been an AMD fan mostly, semi-recently bought an i7 950 but imo not much of a difference at all compared to the less expensive Phenoms but I also don't play too many games.

I've had an i7 and phenom II for 2 or so years now, also have couple of lower end intel and amd servers.

Like both pcs but amd is usually a better value for the money. My brother did not like amd until I built him a new pc with phenom II as well. Now he prefers it over intel.

As for me, I dont give a crap intel or amd, I just get whatever seems to be a better value for the specs I need.

Since I don't do any heavy gaming, 3d, encoding, or graphics work I went ahead with a phenom II x6 1100T and love how good it is at multitasking. Running a custom scraping app with 50 active connections, 20 internet explorer macros, streaming some netflix, 10 open tabs in firefox, 15 in opera and everything is still fast and responsive as if I just booted up.
