AMD vs. Intel?

Intel i7-970 ftw. I don't even play games lmao. If you have any friends working at a retailer that sells intel products, ask them to hook you up with their retail employee purchase program.

USB3 isn't going anywhere as Apple is supporting/promoting/pushing Thunderbolt and other manufacturers will follow suit because that's what they do.

You would be very silly to suggest USB3 is better than Thunderbolt just because at the current time it's more inline with transfer speeds. It's a short sighted view. Thunderbolt is future proof which is why I purchase Apple products.

You play with todays tech, I play with tomorrows.
Ok, I thought Apples whole strategy was to come out with something new every MOTHER FUCKING YEAR<<<<<<<<<<< WTF is future proof about the same shit over and over again/

I'm using i7 2600 atm, no complaints here, very fast & does all that's needed. I don't game but just like to multi task & have things loading fast!

Besides the fact AMD costs less and works basically as well, I like them more because of their cpu fan encasement. Maybe Intel has improved recently but at last built, their fans were not enclosed and could easily bump into stray wires.. AMD fans just seemd more intelligently engineered..

Quite honestly, AMD and Intel are the same when it comes to performance. There might be a few differences when you start getting into the super-high-end category, and I believe that right now Intel is leading as far as that goes, but barring that range, anything just under the best (and most expensive of course), you will find very little difference. I am an AMD guy myself.

Here is a recent chart from Tomshardware on CPU's that are good for gaming. This should give you a good idea on what I'm talking about.

INTEL HANDS DOWN!

Get the core i7, overclock it and u're good to go for the next five years...also get nvidia graphics...they're the best now...and we know how all amd fanboys moan about their "value" shit :D...

amd = overheats...an alternative when your home heater fails...use it in winter...:D

for now get intel!

Both are good ! I have used Amd for 8 years without any complaint then i moved on to Intel core 2 duo . Now planning to buy i7 :) If i were there on your place i would go with Intel. :) Rest its all upto you.
