Hi there,
OK, I'm not a racist, and I can't be one because, being Peruvian, I am a real genetic cocktail myself. I just want to ask what's in US men and women minds and why they appear to be so sensitive about the racial topic, because I had a somewhat "harsh exchange of opinions" today with a woman with "pretty dark skin" (you get it), and suddenly the racial topic sprouted in the conversation out of nothing. It was surprising. I wasn't even thinking about her race, but she assumed many of my viewpoints came from "that".
I have heard in the past that "unitedstatians" define themselves within "communities" (namely Asian, African-American, Hispanic and "white"), but I thought it was just something people liked to show in the movies over there and that that was it. I have also heard that "white people" are paid more money for the same job than people from other "minorities", although I don't know if it is true or just a stereotype.
Is your origin really that important over there? or I just had bad luck and met a girl "with issues"?
Thanks, amigos.
