Any BMW owners here?

I love how everyone loves their BMW's and in the same breath talks about how you can expect to have major issues and shell out a lot on repairs. Logo whores.

I've had a Lincoln LS for 4 years and have only changed the oil. 120,000 miles on the potholed streets of Michigan.

And if you do buy a 3-series, you're definitely a label whore, because those cars are complete junk. Man up and get a 7-series or buy a more reasonable vehicle.

BMW is the way to go 4 years 50,000 miles warranty my navigation system died they replaced it free of charge would have cost 1,500 you never even need to pay for an oil change everything is covered except tires.

If you maintain the bmw's, get quality services done to them they have no issues.

Plus I enjoy having a uncle who owns a Audi-BMW-Mercedes mechanic shop ;)

So much ignorance in so few sentences. I drive a '03 330xi MT and love the car to death not because of the logo, because of the way it handles. If a Kia handled the way my car does, I'd buy a Kia.. but it doesn't.

Let me break down real slow and simple for you then. The first sentence in reference to people that talk about how many repairs their BMW's need, and how expensive they are yet they still like the car. Not the ones that love the way theirs handles.

The 2nd sentence states how my Lincoln LS which cost half as much has had zero maintenance issues in 4 years/120,000 miles.

And the third sentence is in reference to the 3-series - AKA Ford Escort with a BMW logo. They are junk. If you don't own a 7-series, you don't really own a BMW. Sorry Princess.

Hope that helps.

Hey man, not hating on your Lincoln, but lets be honest, anything made by Ford sucks balls in my mind and always will, I don't care if you're from detroit and you love michael moore and roger and me or not.

If you can find me a ford escort that can do this:

I'll buy, right now.

That's an M3, not a standard 3-series. Big difference. I'm not hatin' on BMW's - I think the 7-series in a work of art. I just think the 3-series is junk, and I think it's funny how much people will love a car that gives them nothing but headaches.

And I don't own a Ford for any reason other than the Lincoln LS is a bad mofo.

I also own a Lincoln LS and while the purchase price was low the hassles have been many. coils, steering controls, suspension, transmission have all had issues. The upside being that it is much cheaper to repair in some cases. However, due to the cars limited production run there isn't a large after market and you end up paying up the ass for some ford parts (suspension). as a result, i'm now looking at buying a Lexus. My first car was a Hyundai Accent and that thing that no problems albeit it was slow as hell and handled like a tupperware container on a skateboard. the LS shines on the highway, I'll give it that and RWD is just awesome.

for what may seem like an uber negative review I really do like the LS but at this point it's just not worth it.

as for the 3 series, models like the 320i are a complete waste but something like the 330 is a very different car despite being in the same series.

it really depends where you live tho. In Europe an 330 / M3 costs more than a Porsche 911 to insure since all kids buy them and crash them. Not to talk about the other additional costs that come with them.

Anything under a 6cyl inline is a waste. You can't really say a 320 is a waste. But I have to admit that I have yet to see a US-equipped bmw.

I got the 320 M-Edition Convertible. Nice suspension with insane handling and those 177 hp are more than enough when it comes to Autobahns with speed limits that are just under 75mph.

Plus, to the dude talking about how fords are better... we're not saying your bimmer will stay at the dealership all the time. If something happens, its just more expensive when compared to a cheap car. But I'd rather have 1 problem in 5 years than 10 problems in 5 years.

This guy has the right idea. I used to like luxury cars... until I owned one.

If you buy a luxury car, you are going to have expensive repairs. Period.

They are more complicated, and therefore have more points of failure... which leads to more problems and higher costs in my experience.

Me? Give me a Chevy 350, maybe supercharge it, and put it under the hood of anything with wheels, build up a rigid chassis and some springs/shocks/swaybars, and you've basically got a race car. And it won't break like the BMW.

I just called the shop I use in town and they said they deal with them all the time and have a pretty good source for parts. That makes me feel quite a bit better since I know they are a good honest shop that isn't going to rape me.

I really appreciate all the input. I know they are more expensive to take care of, but everybody I've ever talked to that REALLY knows cars, says the BMW is just a superior driving machine, and before I have kids I think I'm just going to splurge and get one. If it's too much trouble, I'll just sell it, no big deal.

I got a ride in a new corvette yesterday since the guy wanted to sell it to me. He had a great price on it, but it was way too flashy for me. The M3 is the perfect mix of speed and class.

I'll let you guys know when I find one and post some pics.

Stay the fuck away from Lexus. They just started selling the Lexus brand in Japan, you're just buying a relabeled Toyota.

I have an 06 A4 2.0T Quattro. Love it and have had no problems. Replaced some tires for nail damage, and a couple minor repairs that the warranty covers. Consumer Reports always has extremely favorable ratings for Audi/BMW.

Next car will either be an A6 or 328xi.
