325i Owner here.

It is the best toy I have ever had. EVER.

... every generation they have made the models less relieable to sell more parts.

... I love the logo...

... accelaration, handling, luxury briming on every inch of a perfectly crafted machine ...

I bet you make love to the tailpipe too! :ugone2far:

BMW's are nice and prestigious.....but they WILL break and it WILL be expensive to fix. Why not spend half the money and shit on BMW's with an Evo? The Evo will out-handle anything in it's class, and BMW's. it eats cars that cost 2-3 times as much as it does, and spend a few grand and you'll be dusting vette's, m3's, audi's, anything that comes it's way in a straight line and especially on the track :)

Nice whip. It out-handles any car in this thread but the bimmer owners are gonna defend their purchases as if BMW engineers are endowed with the talent to defy physics.

@ Bandit

Yeah, I'm sure your 276 HP car is totally going to outperform the 340 stock HP of the M3 guy's car, or the 360 HP of the 650.

Now that I think of it, Evo's don't ever have any issues or ANY maintenance costs whatsoever. So you are right, you're a genius. We really needed you around to point out the perfection and flawlessness of your amazing vehicle.

Seriously, its a nice car, but it ain't a luxury vehicle, and it ain't gonna outrun an M3 or a 650 under equal conditions of modification.

@ Girard747

When I've said that I get tail, that means something different then what you were thinking.

And here I was wondering who it was that I caught last week jerking off with the tailpipe of my car. Now I know. If I catch you again, I'll turn it on before you can remove your tiny member :love-smiley-086:

And no, BMW engineers are not endowed with the talent to defy physics. But if you knew anything about what you are talking out your ass about, you would understand a little about horse power/torque/etc. Don't worry though, we understand that for 'special' people like you, numbers over 10 are hard to deal with, especially when those numbers have to be combined with concepts.:error:

Its all about the c63 AMG. That car looks fucken mint. And will rape an RS4 or an M3 in drag race. And its not even that expensive to get new.

Get ready for $90 oil changes (full synthetic). $150-200 a piece tires. Brake pads and disks changed at the same time. Its not cheap to have. Its fun, fast, handing is the real deal on bmws.
You must be new money - buying all this stuff. Read richest men in Babylon.
Heres a link for audio.

I've got a bmw and I must say. That first feeling of sweet I got a BMW goes away pretty quick. I dont even realize I've got one anymore. Now I'm trying to find ways to keep my money working for me, not being invested into depreciating assets.

I think the evo's are great cars for the money if your really into performance. They are pure value if your stacking them up with numbers. I'm kind of looking for the full package though, and with the M3 it really has about everything for me. The body is amazing (to me), it's luxury inside, and it performs amazingly, even though it might not be the fastest thing on the road, but I'm not getting it to race anybody. If I was really into racing, and speed that much, I'd just buck up and buy an Arial Atom.

People that think I'm getting it for the "prestige", trust me, I really wish chevy made something to match it. I've definitely looked, it just seems like there's always one aspect missing.

As far as depreciating, If I buy an 05-06 most of that will already be absorbed and I really won't lose any more than I would with any other car.

The thread kind of got off track, but I expect that, people are supposed to like different things. Car brands are always polarizing, but I appreciate the other opinions and ideas (for the most part).

yeah if you get a BMW your pretty much in a rut where you live. the frustration you will have trying to fix the car yourself wouldn't be worth it. those cars are packed up so tight its hard to get around a lot of stuff to fix the problem without going into a rage and killing your whole family..

you really should get your shit straight before you come on here acting like you know what you're talking about. First of all, Evo's are 291 HP stock, and 300 ft-lbs of torque. The 08 model M3 has 414 HP and 295 ft-lbs of torque. You were wrong on both cars. The 05 model m3 (with the $4,000 competition package) pushes out 333 hp and 262 ft-lbs of torque. horsepower and torque alone mean almost nothing. What really matters is how much of that power gets to the wheels, and how soon/when it comes, as well as power-to-weight ratio. The 2.0 4 cylinder stock Evo will dust any M3 off the line because of it's all wheel drive, but the newest model would catch it. The 05 model would get killed regardless. The M3's are really nice cars, and definitely more luxury. It just all depends on what you want. If you want pure value and performance, go Evo. if you have an extra $30k lying around, and want the luxury and prestige, go for the BMW. Now here's the thing. The newest stock Evo's have a terrible factory ECU tune. the Air/fuel ratios are wayyyyy to rich, and it can sustain higher boost levels. One can expect a 40-60WHP gain, just from a tune. spend another $3k for a turbo-back exhaust, intake, intercooler, and piping, and you'll be eating M3's alive for less than half the cost. Throw in a few more thousand for cams, a bigger turbo, better clutch and injectors, and you'll be eating just about anything ;) I'm just saying, you can mod an evo a lot easier than a BMW and you can squeeze a lot more power out of it for a lot less.

Now, of course the Evo has flaws. It needs maintenance just like any other vehicle, but it just won't be nearly as expensive. You can hear road noise more, and the interior just can't touch the quality of a BMW's (though I do like the recaro seats). Everyone has their tastes and preferences. I'm just saying, don't come on here insulting people and acting like you know what you're talking about, because really, you're just making yourself look stupid, and a dick at the same time.

What he said. My cousin has a speed shop and one of his Civics will hold it's own against a new Z06 till 100 or so. I think his Integra is a 10 second car.

Just buy something you like. Of course the 2009 CTS-V is pretty nice and fairly fast at least compared to an M5.

Regarding $90 oil changes-

The synthetic oil in a BMW only needs to be changed every 15,000 miles whereas a normal car would need a $20 oil change every 3,000 miles...so the BMW is actually cheaper.

I had an M3 on a 3 year lease, just ended in February. Honestly, you will be pretty hard pressed to find a better handling, more fun to drive car than a bimmer. The suspension and especially steering can't be matched by any other brand, with the exception (maybe) of the exotics. That goes for all their cars, even the base models.

That said, the service at my local dealer was an abomination. I don't know if its because I am relatively young, or they are just pricks to everyone, but I seriously couldn't wait to not have to deal with them anymore. I can't speak to pricing much as most of the shit I had done there was covered.

In the end though, you only live once. If its something you want and you can afford it, why the fuck not? :)

I have a '93 325is with over 200,000 miles and it's still running great. In the six years I've had it, the only major repair was the computer going bad and it was replaced with a used one so it wasn't super expensive. Aside from that it's just been normal maintenance (oil changes, belts, hoses, etc) and my local mechanic handles it.
