LOL. Great energy though. Hope he lives up to people's expectations of wanting a hero.

"I guess we have to change it [Linsanity] to something more team related.." - Jeremy Lin

I really don't give a shit about Lin; it's amazing what happens when you are about to get cut like he was about to.

The gloss will wear off and he will be middle of the pack. Give me a 21 year old Rubio who, is in his first year of a truncated season with little to no preparation, is adjusting to the American style of play like it was second nature and shows huge potential, over the 23 year Lin who had to almost get cut (and in his second year) before he showed any real spark. Rubio has way more upside. Lin is also way to turn over prone (4.6 a game in this current stretch)

Fuck Lin.

The biggest improvement/surprise/feelgood story as far as I can see, is the fact that the Timberwolves look like they might actually break the 25 win mark barrier for the first time since Garnett left for Boston, and may be in the running for a playoff spot for the first since then as well (yes, I know they will have to improve more for the PO's but they have the material now.

BTW, neither a Wolves or Knicks fan.

lol

Rubio is a great passer, he can't defend, he gets steals playing the passing lane, because he's usually getting burned by tougher guards. Also another shitty thing about Rubio is that he can't score and has a horrible jump shot.

Lin has shown sparks before but got no playing time and never started. He runs the pick and roll better than Rubio, he has great court vision, much better crossover, and can finish at the rim better than Rubio. Also he has a much better jump shot. Rubio has a lot of turnovers, like three a game.

Rubio was my favorite player to watch, but I think Lin is a better all around player.

The guy who played good defense as a 17 year old against NBA guys in the Olympics and who has won defensive player of the year awards can't defend? Every NBA point guard gets burned to a degree by certain guys now.

yea defending some guy named sergio or vlad, is nothing like guarding the most elite athletes in the world 82 games a season. He got tore up against the US players if I remember correctly in 08. That's why ridnouer usually guards point guards, because luke is much faster than him.

Not only is Lin amazing to watch, but if the Knick's continue to play "healthy team basketball" then it I smell another championship for the home of Jay Z and Biggie.

Lin proves that being a good point guard is all about "court vision" and "basketball IQ". More importantly he is getting his teamates involved and raising the level of playing of everyone around him. A quality limited to only great players.

Think about it, Chandler, Fields, and Novak, has averaged more points than ever in the last 5 games since Lin's debut.

The kicker is those aren't even big time players.. Now put Amare + a (shot conscious) mello and the knick's may be a major force to reckon with. At the end of the day, if Carmello can become more of a team player while taking more quality shots then the Knick's will be singing, "We got a Ring"

Now imagine when you have the explosivness of Amare..

Probably the best story in the NBA this year thus far. Quiet Asian kid balling out of his mind in the Big Apple? Super humble and Christian in a league full of primadonnas? You can't write this shit any more perfect.

No it's not, but plenty of Americans play in Europe and it's a higher level of ball than NCAA.

No, I remember his defense being one of the standout things from those events. A quick check using the googles shows Bill Simmons was at the time saying he reminded him a bit of Scottie Pippen defensively and another ESPN blogger was saying Gary Payton.

That's why ridnouer usually guards point guards,
Uh no, they kept Rubio on Derrick Rose even when Barea was in the game with him. If Rubio is on the SG when Ridnour is in then it is probably because they are more concerned with matchup problems with the SG on Ridnour. Rubio is taller and has much longer arms.

NBA Rookie Rankings IV: Kyrie Irving, Ricky Rubio, Iman Shumpert, and more - Grantland

Before Rubio entered the NBA, several scouts noted that he was a very good defender off the basketball, but they thought he would be too slow to stay in front of NBA point guards when they isolated against him. The scouts, however, mostly failed to notices Rubio's wingspan, which DraftExpress mentions is around 6 feet 9 inches. His long arms help negate his lack of foot speed. He can challenge shots while staying farther back, and this makes it easier for Rubio to stay in front of his man. What's the result? Taking charges on the perimeter. In isolation situations, Rubio holds his man to 0.568 points per possession on 25.9 percent shooting. That places him among the top 20 percent of all NBA players. Rubio also forces turnovers 16.2 percent of the time when offensive players isolate against him. Of those turnovers, all but two have been charges taken on the perimeter. In fact, Rubio is third among players in terms of charges taken, according to Hoopdata, with 0.90 per game. Most of the following charges were taken on the perimeter. This is all because of Rubio's wingspan.

Rubio doesn't use speed to stay in front of his man and take charges. Instead, he uses distance. Rubio's arms are long enough to bother shots even when he plays his man a step back. His opponents don't seem comfortable playing against Rubio. It's as if they don't know how to react, and instead they just barrel into him and commit offensive fouls.

Are you all kidding me?

Rubio is arguably the best passer in the nba next to steve nash. If hes such a bad defender how is he leading the league in steals? He kept on Jeremy Lin and stuck him like glue. Jeremy lin went 1 for 12 as soon as rubio solved his riddle. I like lin i'm from new york but you'd have to be straight up in denile if you think rubio can't defend.

How about rondo? chris paul?? cmon son! :p

Rubio did play D on lin no doubt about that.

But who cares if he struggled. He played great during his past games and I gotta give him credit for scoring 38 points on dem lakers.

The real question is.. Can he continue to play this good throughout the season? We'll see...

Can't lie i'm amused by it LINE EM UP [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuFs4RpquvY]Hollywood FLOSS "Line Em Up" Official Music Video (Directed by Apollo Stackwell) - YouTube[/ame]

LOL at Ricky Rubio playing great vs Team USA in 2008

The one strong memory I have from that tourney is how bad Chris Paul/D. Williams abused Rubio in the first game. Rubio fared slightly better in the second.

I like Rubio.. but to say he played great vs. team USA in 2008 is a funny joke. He did extremely well for a 17 year old and that's where his praise should end.

CMON SON NONE OF THEM PASS BETTER THAN RUBIO.

Rondo?!?! He has a team basically built for assists. Rubio has way more talent than him. I would be getting assits too if i had peirce, garnett and allen. Chris paul somewhat close to rubio but i still give rubio being the better passer. I think rubio averages more.
