Anyone Having Reception Problems After Upgrading Iphone 3GS to IOS4?

To add to my already bad ATT reception, ever since i upgraded the phone to IOS4 and even worse with the update after that, my phone is almost unusable. Most calls fail & the signal constantly goes to searching. Places I had 3G in the past are now edge...its a clusterfuck

Anyone else experiencing the same and if so anyone have a fix? (other then buying a droid)

I didn't immediately upgrade to iOS4 on my 3GS (kept forgetting it was there and I rarely connect my phone to my computer) so when I did upgrade it was to 4.0.1

No problems so far.

yea i have 4.0.1 - just keeps losing signal

i upgraded my 3G just recently to 4.0.1 and the thing is a brick now. biggest POS i ever bought.... can't wait till my contract is up with ATT.

I think I might be the only person in the world who doesn't know someone in real life who currently owns an iPhone. With that said, I have an iPad and the AT&T network has gone from awesome, to totally fucking worthless in the past six weeks. It literally takes like 5 minutes to load WF and that's when the connection stays constant.

My girlfriend and I have been using Straight Talk (the Wal-Mart brand on the Verizon Network - $45 for unlimited talk/text/web) with a regular cell phone lately. For the first time in my life I haven't had a dropped call on a regular cell phone (I normally use VOIP) since I bought it. Which makes me pretty excited for:

3GS + 4.0 OS is awesome. I like only have 4 pages of apps instead of 10 +.

Wake me up when ATT's deathgrip exclusivity is finally over. I hope I can go right to T Mobile without a jailbreak. ATT runs out in 2010, but I still have not seen a drop dead date on the internets... then you know what those fucking crooks at ATT will do... drop their prices for customer loyalty... all of them are vultures. ATT for two phones unlimited everything 270. T Mobile two phones jailbroken unlimited everything 139. yes. those are real numbers. ridiculous.

Has anyone tried to jailbreak / has success with 3GS / 4.0 jailbreak?

I was having same data issues with my 3G in June, but that seems to be fixed now. No problems after upgrading to iPhone 4; I haven't even experienced any reception issues when using the 'deathgrip'.

When I upgraded the software on my 3G it disabled 3G data - you might want to check that in your settings?

Device wise you'll still need to jailbreak and unlock, as they're not going to do it for older devices (or make it extremely hard)

Secondly if you do switch to tmobile, you're going to lose your 3G speed, the 3G on the iPhone is not compatible with T-Mobile's network, since AT&T has a slightly different configuration to allow the simultaneous talk and data, which you can't have on T-Mobile's network.

I've upgraded to 4.01 and I've noticed a few instances of having to search for a signal (besides the normal SHITTY ATT that drops at least HALF OF MY CALLS)

I can't seem to find the article, but I remember once upon a time AT&T actually tried blaming the iPhone for those problems as opposed to their network. Basically because the rate of dropped calls on the same AT&T network, but on windows mobile, blackberries and such were much less than on the iphone.
