Apple just shit on every other computer manufacturer

This stuff is cool and all but in most of the world it is impertinent because lower priced alternatives that are good enough are used by almost everybody.

lulz

Reminds me of the aliens in those glass containers from the movie independence day lol

That picture is funny and very sad all at the same time. Look at the expressions on those guys faces, like they are about to enter Adriana Lima's ass or something. Again, another flawless victory for the Apple marketing team..

It bums me out that Apple is the only company capable of pushing the boundaries of computers. Every other company makes the same old shitty plastic laptops with no advances in design or aesthetics, just ever increasing specs to match the rest of the market, but never leading the market.

Asus tried to compete with their Zenbook but it just ends up being more expensive with inferior build quality to a Macbook Air, and you know it's going to lose its value a hell of a lot quicker.

Ah yes, the groundbreaking IPS display technology that every apple faggot now must have: 2011 notebooks with IPS displays?

If there is one thing apple does that is groundbreaking, it's their marketing. They blow me away with each mediocre product they release that generates a buzz of epic proportions. It's a beautiful thing to watch.

I am not an apple fanboy, but I believe this is the highest resolution IPS display to be released so far in a laptop at 2880x1800. That is a lot of screen real estate for a 15" laptop.

only at wickedfire can you make a post about product X, and then 12 post into said thread, have multiple idiots in a pissing contest about HDMI and In Plane Switching technology.

Thank God no one has posted a pic of Morgan's old desk setup yet.. Im waiting for Suddenly Gay to also post some dicks up in here too.

Pushing the boundaries of computers? Wat?

Most of the shit Apple sells is underpowered and overpriced trash inside pretty exterior cases.

I'll make it clear that I'm only talking about their laptops here, I have no opinion on the 'desktop' Macs.

Apple laptops have by far the best build quality at the best price, and clearly the latest hardware given this is the first and only laptop to feature a resolution that high. That's what I mean by pushing the boundaries. If you can show me something better I'd love to see it.

I like to buy quality goods that will last as long as I want them to last. I had 2 Toshiba's before my MBP, the backlight died in my first one (old CCFL backlights, fluorescent tubes with a limited life). What did Apple do? they started using LED backlights that have a practically unlimited lifespan, and made them standard. Now LED backlit screens are on all laptops, but Apple was the first to make them affordable. I believe Sony was the very first to have an LED backlit laptop, but the price was outrageous compared to Apple.

The early Macbooks were made from plastic, and if you look at most of them now, the hand rest area is cracked and broken. What did Apple do? they said fuck this shit and built a laptop out of a solid piece of aluminium. It has taken years for other manufacturers to catch up to this, most of them being partly metal with a plastic bottom, or plastic keyboard surround (zenbook). None of them are solid metal like Apple. Anything close to it is usually way more expensive than a MBP anyway, like the Sony Vaio Z or the Samsung series 9 (retailed for something like $3000 when it came out, it's still a flimsy piece of shit).

That's what I'm talking about when I say they push the boundaries. Currently just about every laptop has a twisted nematic LED LCD apart from some crazily priced Sonys, so Apple is pushing the display boundary to make IPS displays the norm.

Not to mention they were the first to make an ultra thin laptop, the Air. Every slim laptop today is an almost direct knock-off and is no cheaper.

Blah blah blah sucking Apple cock....

Most computing hasn't even cough up to standard 1080p resolutions yet, so I fail to see how it is a good thing to have such an extreme resolution (and not even a 17" screen). Good luck with that bro. Although the metal body thing is sweet that is really the only thing that is really better than other standard laptops out there because generally Apple does 1 of 2 things.

1) Puts hardware on their computers that aren't beneficial or be used by 99% of users. Examples would be thunderbolt ports and these crazy screens.

2) Overcharges for the shitty hardware they do put in. Example an iPhone.

Spare me the "pushing the boundaries" excuse.

the IPS sounds good in theory but once you get it front of one you will barely notice the difference

look at the ipad 2 -> ipad 3

unless you are like some 1080p video editor or graphics person it won't be much more efficient

The screen isn't that resolution, it has that pixel density. Can show more detail in the same space, hence why I shared that pic of the full res hd final cut video being edited

The only thing it has going for it is the resolution and the shiny chassis of which is highly overpriced. Other laptop manufactureres will have this same resolution in no time.

About 2% of Macs are already infected with viruses because it is less secure than Windows but has a lower market share so nobody wants to make viruses for it. Once the market share is higher it will be out of control.

"Retina Display: A marketing term developed by Apple to refer to devices and monitors that have a resolution and pixel density"

If you want a secure OS, install the latest Debian.

I've got an old 386 laptop that the backlight still works on. I can't remember having a laptop for long enough for the backlight to die. LED backlights was more a power issue, than a durability issue.

I do NOT want a metal laptop. They might look nicer, and be a bit more durable, but they sure as fuck aren't nicer to use. I care about how my laptop works, not how it looks - because I'm not a retard (or a woman).

Currently on dual 24" displays with 1920x1080 res. Sure it'd be nice to double the density and make things a small bit clearer, but why would I want my video card to work harder to keep up. Oh that's right, mac barely plays any games, so the resolution deal isn't an issue.

Because lifting an extra couple of pounds is really unnecessary. Please also give me my large coke in two smaller cups, because one big cup is too heavy to carry.

My MBP was ~$1,800, my Toshiba Tecra was ~$900. Can you guess which one I prefer?

+ 1 ! It also always amazed me how all the laptop on the market looks like piece of plastic crap...

I like how you talk about hardware not being used by 99% of users, then complain about them not having a 17" version. Considering only 1.7% of their laptops sales were 17" machines. Fucking hilarious.

Pretty sure Debian doesn't even ship with a kernel that supports ivybridge. No interest in distro's that I have to fuck around with to install on the latest server or desktop hardware.
