Are you losing rankings as well?

^^ I don't know about you friend but I rely on blog networks too heavily and not one website has been touched.

$5000/day on that site? that site sucks dick.

Do you think that the fact that social bookmarks are not as strong as they were has something to do with this? I mean, since their power is down, the devaluated strength of bookmarks could have that affect IMO..

I also used social bookmarks on all my sites and i am wondering that since the fact that those strong links are gone, that could have brought my rankings crashing down..

But still with the diversified link portfolio that i provide for each site, it still should not be such a big fucking deal.. I always just did the initial SB blast then i went on to many other different backlinks..

This site is only about a month old, so obviously there's room for some dance in there, but it was sitting at #8 for two main KW's, and 3 days ago it just dropped out of the SERPS.

No Adsense, site had about 2k bookmarks, AA blog comments, Web 2.0 on it when it dropped.

Initially, I thought the drop was due to some less than user-friendly JS I had placed on the site, but I removed that instantly, and I haven't seen any improvement beyond the sitemap suddenly appearing to rank for both main KWs.

I hit this particular site with a standard SB blast off the bat, and that planted it on the front page within 3 days. I hear a lot of talk about SBs being devalued, but I haven't seen them not work as an initial rank boost yet. Some people may have, I'm not going to argue with anyone else's personal experience.

MY link profile was not diverse by any means, so a bookmark devaluation could certainly explain my drop, but if you have a solid profile I can't imagine you'd be hit as hard.

Maybe G is reworking the value of bookmarks, and everybody is going to dance for a little while until they settle on the new weight.

Ok, so how was your anchor diversity? I have been reading another thread here and a few other things around the web and i have been seeing that could be a problem.

I haven't been using many "natural" link phrases in my anchors and not much variations as well.. Although again, some sites where i did the same, didn't get hit..

Sigh.. At the moment the rankings are all over the place and changing daily from 80 to 400 for some sites..

My rankings have been bouncing for the last couple weeks as well. I lost all of my first place rankings that have been holding strong for a long time now.

Last month everyone thought it had to do with ads. Now everyone thinks its anchor diversity.

I think its because googles a bitch and just doesn't like some people.

Anchor diversity is 50/50 relevant/natural. Although on the web 2.0s it's 100% relevant. I didn't spin the bookmark titles as thoroughly as I have in the past, but I can't see that being the issue.

Again, I may have a completely different problem here, because of the javascript I had on my page.

This site I'm talking about is nowhere to be found in the SERPS, but it's a PR 2 as of today.

Cute.

here's what G has to say: 17 search quality highlights: January - Inside Search

Fresher results. [launch codename “nftc”] We made several adjustments to the freshness algorithm that we released in November. These are minor updates to make sure we continue to give you the freshest, most relevant results.

Improve detection of recurrent event pages. [launch codename “neseda”] We made several improvements to how we determine the date of a document. As a result, you’ll see fresher, more timely results, particularly for pages discussing recurring events.

wondering if all this freshness noise is related to the PR updates for brand new pages.

Touche my friend.. It might be yes, but i am looking to change this now.. Testing what is working and what is not and opening a discussion for anyone that wants to pitch in his/her experience to get rankings back on track..

Your lack of attention to these types of details could be the reason your rankings are dropping.

Since Saturday nearly all my websites and also clients websites drop in SERPS 5-10 places. Today started PR update and most of my domains homepages have still old PR but pages have new PR. Its very strange as I have few domains with homepage PR0-1 and pages have PR2-4. I hope domain homepages will get better PR within few hours and come back to previous SEPS results.

Well my three main sites got bashed severely over the weekend and if I was a chick I would be crying right now. The thing that fucks me off is that it's going to take so long to figure out what the problem is and by the time I do they will have probably brought in another update to fuck me up even more!

I am pretty careful with my sites (as careful as someone that buys links off WF can be), build lots of new content and create aesthetically pleasing, solid sites and would tell G to go fuck themselves but it turns out I need them a lot more than they need me!

If someone who is better at SEO can actually figure out what the problem is here: KW diversity, spam et al then I will be forever greatful cos I aint going to be a millionaire without my sites!!

The only sites that have been taking hits for me in the last month are newer 1 pagers with aggressive link building (which doesn't really surprise me). It seems all my fuller sites with at least 5 articles plus plumbing and 1000+ words on the homepage are holding steady over the weekend with most rankings improving slightly. These sites are also being linked to but at a much more steady pace.

i had an ecom type site get hit. all the pages had the item pic, price, buy now button, video link, etc.. at the top and long item descriptions under all that.

I just rearranged the site layout to put the text info at the top and the normal top crap under the info.

will post back if I see any bounce back from the change.
