Are you losing rankings as well?

I got an ecom site that actually doesn't really have any text on the front page and that one is the only one that has actually gained a few positions in rankings! I hope that this doesn't change in the coming days..

I've talked to many people in this thread now, and compared sites.

There are no similarities with:


  • site age
  • types of backlinks
  • site layout
  • niche
  • PR
The only thing that keeps coming up is ALN. However, a few of the sites including one of mine in the list of smacked sites did not use ALN. In fact, one of my sites has had almost no link building done. But ALN does keep coming up in conversation.
 
Yeah as i said before i also used social bookmarks (many on pligg platform) on all sites and some were left unharmed...

I have also been talking to a few people and can't find anything that all have in common except for the ranking drop.

My only site thats still sitting at #1 never got ALN and the only SB was done by Lalit months ago and he doesn't use Pligg. This is a very low comp site though.

I also have a site that was built around the same time with the same links and that one hit page two about a week ago.

Across all my sites there is no consistent reason why they fell out of the sky.

I think hearing from the people that took our spots might show a clearer picture.

One of my sites was doing incredible up until last week when an EMD with 3 high PR tumblr links took #1
 
It might be something to do with bookmarking and link velocity. That's my best guess. Those of you getting hit been dripping your SB's or doing one time blasts?

Interesting thread. Welcome to WF, Matt :)

I have taken no epic beatdowns, but I'm not really making progress either.

Basically, my EMDs that I don't add to still won't hit #1, and building links isn't helping.

Sites that I add content to are doing fine.

My latest Social Bookmarking Bomb + 200 likes + 50 Retweets was 0 movement (EMD that I haven't added content to).

I honestly don't know how you guys rank EMDs #1 over authority sites with no new content ever. That's pretty much the only way I can keep sites alive these days. Kind of a pain in the ass when you have 36 sites and I'm working on a major SAAS.

To pair down on my projects or work/spend/outsource harder is the question....

If you redefine "what is spam" this game will make a lot more sense to you.

You're guilty of what you fear the most and just in denial. Just accept that automation is part of the game (you = guilt by association) and remove the negative connotations associated with the evil word spam. Seek the truth

Do you actually sell insurance or just have a quoting site?

Because I'm in insurance and haven't been shot. Still steadily climbing for all keywords.
