ARM THE TEACHERS ? ? ?

Tell me what school you teach in so I can make sure my kids never make friends with anyone who goes there, please.

Growing up in Vancouver I saw all sorts of weapons in school; guns, knives, machetes. Most of the knives kids would bring in to show off. But all of it was not used in school or against the fellow kids in school. Most of the dangerous weapons was based on their lifestyle outside of school. I saw lots of fist fights and someone smashed in the was with a shovel and the shovel was used because the guy was given it by the school to work with outside as punishment. I am for education and respect for guns. We're taught from a young age that knives are dangerous we respect them and the damage that they cause we should be doing the same with guns at some point. I mean they try to teach us about safe sex in the schools. Throw a fun lesson in there somewhere. I remember being taught about guns in scouts

Adding more guns in schools to fight maniacs with guns is like trying to make bubbly rubber cars made full of air to avoid traffic deaths.

Laws banning assault rifles and such is like traffic lights and speed limits.

The rest of the 1st world laughs at the US because of their guns laws and deaths due to guns.

Now we are forced to cry instead.

Smarten the fuck up, I'm sick of crying because of stupid indoctrinated cultural nonsense about your rights and freedoms from the 1700's.

Have you guys seen this circulating around facebook? It was posted by some news channel's fb page.

Notice he doesn't have a gun? What's he volunteering for, being the first to die? lol

People always do this type of stuff after a tragic event. Check back in a year and see if he's still there guarding the school, lol.

The reality is that there is nothing anyone can do to stop these events from happening. If someone wanted to go to a public place like a hotel, mall, train station, bus station, subway, grocery store, hardware store, pet store, hospital, church, coffee shop, museum, restaurant...or any place where you can just walk on in, and shoot up the place, there's nothing anyone can do to stop them because you never know when they'll strike or even who will strike.

Blah, blah... how about just take the guns out of the equation?

You do understand that with 300 some odd million guns in circulation, and with at least half the population unwilling to give them up, you will NEVER take guns out of the equation right? It's ridiculous to even suggest that it's possible. Just stop. Move on to the next point of action.

A qualified armed guard or two per school isn't a terrible idea.

I guess you're right, since is clearly says he's doing it for 1 week.

Excellent idea! In America, impressionable kids just don't have enough exposure to guns, so we should really ramp that up a little bit. There's still quite a few brown people left in the world, after all.

And this way, when the teacher is outside in the hall giving some kid shit, his friend can grab the gun, and shoot her when she comes back into class. Excellent!

But equipping, firing and reloading an arsenal of weapons on call of duty every day after school in high definition 3d with surround sound does not expose kids to guns...

Effects Of Raising And Lowering Speed limits

"The results of the study indicated that lowering posted speed limits by as much as 20 mi/h (32 km/h), or raising speed limits by as much as 15 mi/h (24 km/h) had little effect on motorist' speed...

The data clearly show that lowering posted speed limits did not reduce vehicle speeds or accidents.

Maybe do a basic amount of research before giving your angry opinions. The US overall has high rates of all violence, whether it be with knives or fists. Is fist violence due to fists?

Various states and cities in the US have different gun laws. Much of the crime that influences the overall stats is coming out of places with the tighter gun controls.

States like Utah, New Hampshire and Vermont have very lax gun laws, but are some of the safest places in the world. Cities like Washington D.C. have gun bans, but have very high rates of gun violence.

People in places such as Vermont have shown that relative peace can coexist with guns, but despite that people who don't even live there such as yourself are highly opinionated about big changes needing to be made.

Fists don't punch people, people punch people.

Here's an idea! Air marshal type service in the schools. Simply have schools institute a policy where upon hiring teacher aids / assistants, preference is given to military veterans who also have a conceal carry permit, and have them double as security.

Cheap & easy to implement, more veterans get employed, kids are safe without having to see fully armed guards at school, and homicidal maniacs won't be able to just pop the couple guards before going on a shooting spree, because they won't know who the guards are.

Voila!

These attacks are often well thought out and pre-meditated. They're not done by crazy people who walk around shooting someone once a week for the lols.

Not really. They're carried out by loner 'losers' who their parents should at least have recognized and if someone, anyone, had bothered to talk to, then they might have discovered that something wasn't rigth in advance.

One of the reason for this to happen in the US so frequently, seems to me, maybe to be related to the one of a kind, institutionalized bullying system so many Americans seem to enjoy.

The divison into jocks vs nerds, popular vs not popular, all the competition from a young age is eventually going to create these people.

Same reason as why the US seems to accept, even morbidly enjoy, the mass homosexual rape in prisons.

Weird country in many ways.

So you are ok with giving out guns to millions of people, statistically some of which will be violent psychopaths.

You want to give teachers "tools" to deal with psychos with guns, how about just take the guns out of the equation?

Who said they want to hand out guns to millions of people? I simply say those who can and want, should.

And what's your plan to "take guns out of the equation?" Is that anything like taking alcohol out of the equation during prohibition era or taking drugs out of the equation during the war on drugs? Good luck with that.
