British Member of Parliament Barry Sheerman made a nice statement: "I’m getting increasingly worried about the free movement of people across Europe. It’s a very competitive world out there, and my constituents resent that." So I guess we can look forward to future attempts to restrict people's movements for the purpose of limiting competition.

And Spain just outlawed the use of cash for transactions greater than 2,500 Euros. All your transactions are belong to us.

Seems like Europe is rushing headlong toward some dark days.

Seems like Europe is rushing headlong toward some dark days.

The whole Euro project is WW3 just waiting to happen.

I always crack a smile when I hear the yanks moaning about their liberties being stripped.

You want socialism gone wild come check out the Euro zone.

^But they ASKED for it... We're force-fed the red white and blue freedom bullshit since we were in the womb over here and god dammit, we EXPECT our democracy to be the freest plot of land in the solar system.

Meanwhile, most of the EU is happy to pay moar taxes for a bigger nanny-state.

Europe: A great place to visit and be sick in.

Yeah they did, most of them are happy to be plugged into the matrix.

Let me ask you this though -

As much as big government has fucked things up in the US, and as dead as the american dream may be - why are so many people ready to quit?

What worries me isn't the falling of the empire, it's the fact the alternative options are far far worse.

An all seeing all knowing US government fucking things up as hard as they can still must be a better option than the Chinese communist party.

Private medical insurance is big business in the UK by the way.

There is no perfect economy for such a large number of citizens, regardless if its the UK or US. There will be ups and downs for sure, but all that really matters is that the people have the ability to enjoy their lives if they choose to do so.

All these conspiracy theories always overlook the fact that people are much, much smarter now, and if anything ever truly does cross the line in terms of "over controlling" by the gov't, the people would revolt instantly. It would be survival of the fittest at that point... so if you are truly worried about a massive conspiracy taking over the world, you better get to the gym :)

Dude you have NO freedom. Your government can take away all your "rights" overnight and speed you away to go knows where and there is NOTHING you or your family can do about it. No trial, no jury of your peers.

All of your communications are MONITORED and one or two flagged keywords later and you are bye bye for as long as THEY wish.

All Americans think they live in the land of the free until they experience what it's like to have more freedom elsewhere and then are like WTF?

You are free when your corporate overlords tell you that you are.

Wake up!

if anything ever truly does cross the line in terms of "over controlling" by the gov't, the people would revolt instantly.

And if the government does this "over controlling" in the interest of "national security" or your own well being then what? Well it's happening right now, but the media in the country are spinning it so that the people who think they are smart are being force fed their opinions. Choice is based on facts and not spin.

Barry Sheerman is a very minor MP that no one's ever heard of. MPs make statements all the time.

That is just impossible to happen.

I would get why an american would think it could, be not someone who was born in Europe.

This, he's a backbench MP for a party that isn't even in power. He's just making statements to pander to his constituency. He's from the North too, where nobody has any jobs since they cut the public sector back, and they want to someone to blame it on. Basically, they are pissed off that a lot of the manual jobs have been taken by Poles because they aren't so fucking lazy and useless as the Brits.

His words carry only slightly more weight on UK government policy than a drunken tramp found slouched on a street corner of a Tuesday afternoon.

^That's good news then. Although the thought process of that kind of person is pretty screwed up and it does seem to reflect the same thinking of so many government types.

Umm... I was born in Europe, and it's pretty clear to me that we are indeed heading for some very serious trouble.

Entitled, clueless populations + socialist governments + genuinely bankrupt nations + financial chaos on a macro level + banking sector gone wild = loads of difficulties that can't be solved by democratic means.

Add uncontrolled immigration from some of the most backward regions of the globe and you have a textbook case for (at best) low intensity conflict that will go on for decades.

I used to be an optimist, but there's no longer any reason to be. It's looking pretty dark. Prove me wrong, Western civilization. Prove me wrong.

Whatever. I'll be poolside.

I actually LOL'd aloud. People aren't any smarter. Just more connected. As social media continues to lower the bar for people to get online and interact the general IQ of the internet continues DOWNWARD.

and if anything ever truly does cross the line in terms of "over controlling" by the gov't, the people would revolt instantly.

What all this technology is doing is placing more and more power, influence, and surveillance in fewer and fewer hands.

Computers don't have built in ethics to be 'whistle blowers' when they are being abused for a purpose that was not intended.

The US government in recent years has found and used every opportunity to erode our freedoms. And if they continually to do it slowly and gradually no one will even notice.

You are so full of fucking shit.
I still love ya, I'm just sayin'

As much as big government has fucked things up in the US, and as dead as the american dream may be - why are so many people ready to quit?
Because with all of the increases in US Socialism over the past few decades, they feel that quitting isn't so bad... Heck, it's kinda comfy!

What worries me isn't the falling of the empire, it's the fact the alternative options are far far worse.

Thailand baby, Thailand.

Travel more in general, and you'll see it's much better in many other countries... For now at least.

LULZ!

Every one of us has different standards on what crosses the line... Sadly, the vast majority of americans, the Sheeple, have been fed those standards by the TV networks... Which keeps them very low and unlikely to revolt. This is the very essence of the reason that Ron Paul is not already our president.

Further, to say that people are "smarter" today is so naive it's borderline insane. If anything, technology enables us NOT to learn, and our global IQ has been rapidly declining since the invention of the Radio. See the first 5 Minutes of the movie Idiocracy for an even better explanation.

Um, Nick... dude...?

Do you ever look to the left of the posts you're responding to to check who it was that said them?

It baffles me that there are still intelligent people that that can't see the agenda that's being incrementally carried out.

Of course, there's a fucking conspiracy to rob, oppress, and surveil the US citizens. How could there not be...ever read a history book?? Have you not been paying attention the laws and bills being PUSHED through? That's what gets me..if someone doesn't believe there is some type of "conspiracy"...fine. That's great...but so many people (most) LAUGH at the idea, and make fun of the person that believes these ideas. WTF?? Are you kidding? I would have to be a complete retard to not start connecting dots at some point. Especially when people automatically spout off their programmed responses like "conspiracy theorist"..."those people must be CRAZY"...for fucks sake, do people not recognize when they conditioned automatically classify and disregard a specific set of ideas?? Guess not. Disagree fine, I can respect that. Laugh and make fun of, and your're a brainwashed retard.

To be clear, I respect all thoughtful viewpoints...but I really can't see how anyone can deny we are being manipulated into a more socialized, fascist, society with less freedom and prosperity for us and our cultural heirs.

I wish I could be more optimistic about the US..and I have tried..but damn, I can't ignore the obvious outcome that we're headed towards.
