What is up with these merchants making "Free $1,000,000,000 Gift Cards!" offers? Do they really work better than something a little more believable like $20?

Write in the comments that you do SEO. Plenty of people dont have sites and do PPC like you, just write that in there
I don't think anyone is going to give you that information. Look for the "Top 5 Performing Offers" once you log into Copeac or most any other affiliate program and it will show you which offers have been converting the best.
And don't forget the "You've Won a ______ Worth $500!!!" (all you have to do is 'qualify') offers.
I guess those 3 areas still convert well, at least for some, although I just can't see how given how saturated the market is with them and increased consumer savvy about ringtone and bogus free offer rip-offs.

If you don't have any money or are affraid to get off your wallet try longtail stuff both PPC and SEO. Not much money or volume traffic in it on a small scale. So I suggest investing time in learning to code, understanding internet protocols, and making relationships with people that know stuff. However that's going to be hard as you have nothing to offer.

I'm using a few different ad sources to generate traffic to an affiliate marketing site. I am using Google analytics to track goals/clickthroughs and then manually matching them with my affiliate reports. While I can get a good idea of what is selling well this way, how can I track which advertising source generated the sale in the beginning?
