Atlas Shrugged Movie, Apr 15th

this has been tried time and time again only to be cancelled mid-production. it will be a tragedy if it's not good.

Well isn't that timely. They were showing Metropolis in Austin earlier this year at an old power plant. I thought that was pretty timely as well.

Maybe we all needed this, I only got through half of it before I had to worry about this version of America wanting to reward the weak.

That looks like a second-rate TV-movie. It's probably better to just read the book.

I hope they properly portray Objectivism in it and don't screw up Rand's creation. I wonder if Peikoff is assisting with this movie in any way.

Personally, I'm interested in how they are going to work the Hunger Games movie. It's been bumped to 2012 just recently.

OMG SO FUCKING STOKED FOR THIS ONE.

If you guys haven't checked it out, buy the book today. Bloody fantastic.

My vote is Chloe Moretz for Katniss

and Hugh Laurie as Haymitch.

C'mon just the very fact that this movie was made is awesome. I am excited about seeing it.

They gave the film to this guy?!

The dude has very little experience behind the camera. But he made sure to put himself in the role of Galt.* From Wiki:

best known for playing Dan Scott on the WB/CW television series, One Tree Hill, and for his role as Nick Wolfe on the short lived Highlander: The Series spin-off Highlander: The Raven.

And just in case you're thinking he's gonna be saved by a kickass screenwriter, it's this guy:

Name's John Aglialoro. Never heard of him? Exactly. Here's his lengthy resume.

Who knows? Maybe he'll knock it out of the park, like Paul Haggis did with Million Dollar Baby.

Prognosis: unlikely. Best of luck, brothers.

* lol He even looks like an attention-whore.

I'm a big fan of Rand's ideas and Objectivism, but Atlas Shrugged is just not a good/entertaining book. Preachy 50 page long speeches are not riveting literature, no matter how good the principles behind it.

I can't imagine a movie version finding mainstream appeal.

I'm sure people are dying to watch a movie about trains, trade war, metallurgy, and government writing taxes.
