DanNicol,
Are you saying this is ShoeMoney's site?

skynydave,
It's not about eliminating the competition. I compete with thousands of people. It's about competing fairly. I think you know what I mean.

It seems that the links are broken for now. We'll see if this lasts. Last time the links were broken for just a few hours.

Uhmmm Azoogle?

This is what my rep e-mailed me yesterday:

"1. We are not allowing Free, No-Charge, Zero Cost, No Fee, etc in search ad copies (keywords are ok for now).
2. We are requiring the price point on every mobile offer’s landing page we run.
3. We are removing all pre-checked terms and conditions on the back end of every carrier (blinko). Dada has already been removed.
4. We are not allowing anyone to restrict our page width/length to cover up the disclaimers. (popping up a page smaller to cover the disclamer, not good!).
5. We are not allowing our mobile offers to be incentivized.
6. We are requesting all affiliates that have FREE in their URLs to change them ASAP. We have not start breaking links for this offense YET.
7. The word FREE should not be ANYwhere on the landing page describing any of our ringtone services. This is a serious violation.
8. Affiliates need to use FREE and the other banned words in a negative keyword list, so as to avoid people searching for FREE RINGTONES, and having it populate onto a landing page dynamically. We are very close to breaking links for this offense, but haven’t started yet."

no, #8 says *negative* keywords. That means if anyone uses the banned keywords in their search strings your ad will not show up.

#8 would be when you use the referer/get variables from the search engine to dynamically add the search term to your landing page (using PHP, etc).

So now you have to filter at your landing page in the PHP code so "FREE" is not inserted into your landing page Dynamically.

Some people do this dynamic insertion so a headline or other text matches the search term - possibly increasing conversions and/or Quality score, or because they can!

It's true that most of these ringtone companies have set this mandate to forbid the use of keywords that may be deemed as misleading the user.

This has happened across the board with all networks and we have had to comply as well.

However, Jamster, one of the original ringtone offers on the market, has taken a new twist and is offering 3 100% Free ringtones. With the other ringtone offers not using Free on their ads, and with Jamster's payout of upto $10, this should soon outperform these other offers.

Click here for the landing page http://www.affiliateer.com/member.asp?afid=10038&offerid=496 and sign up at www.Affiliateer.com to test this offer out.

Looking at the landing page for that offer, it looks like the affiliate cannot be paid if the visitor actually elects to take only the free ringtones?

A week after the adcopy changes. How are your conversions doing. My conversion 1st. Increased, now it dropped liked a rock.

I think conversions dropped because the merchants have slightly modified the landing pages. It's now much clearer for the visitor that the ringtones aren't free but will cost them $x.xx a month.

I know, however I wonder if the merchants will raise payouts and/or will the cpc decrease over time.

For this offer, ( http://www.affiliateer.com/member.asp?afid=10038&offerid=496&si=wf ) the ringtones are absolutely Free to the user. Hence you can use the words "Free" in any text ads and any promotion. This will make your ad stand out from the others.

You are correct in that the affiliate does not get paid when the visitor selects one of the 3 free ringtones. However, what seems to be happening is the user is not happy with the free 'poly tones' available for free, and so enters their phone number and subscribes to get one of the better sounding 'Real Tones'. This is when the affilaite gets paid. This is a relatively new strategy implemented by Jamster, and judging by its success, I wouldn't be surprised if other offers follow this lead.

The payout on this offer is lower than what we offer on Dada, but it is definitely worth testing out. Do note that the user's subscription cost of $5.99 per month is also lower than the $9.99 available elsewhere.

Just as everything else in the online world, you will never know unless you try ;)
