B-Complex/B12 Injections

Hmmm... Don't you get B12 from meat? How about just having a steak. Sounds better than injecting something that dissolves your body.

Have a steak, replace the dew with water+lemon and go jogging.
I guess that's the healthier choice.

Wow, a lot of replies on this.

I do take a multivitamin, I take 2 actually, one of them has 8 pills, I also take 4 fish oil and 4 flax seed tablets every day. I also mix 2/3 cup of ground flax seed in with 8 oz of milk, 2 tbsp lite peanut butter, and 2% milk with my protein shake every morning.

The soda is bad, and fast food is bad... I can kick the soda, but only for so long until I literally get sick of water and want something with flavor... When this happens I realize that I spend $8 on juice, and $3 on soda, and soda has an addictive in it too, so it usually wins... Especially when I am counting change...

On top of that, the caffeine keeps me normal, which for me, is lazy. Without it its worse. Between running a new business and trying to manage life and learn to make money online so I dont have to go overwork myself physically every day, it gets tough, and the hours get long.

As for the B12/B-Complex, I know it isn't the golden solution, but it's only a vitamin, and certainly won't kill me or hurt. You get B12 mainly from meat, and the only meat in my diet comes from fast food, which is usually actually Soy, hence I get 0 B12.

I just got a call from a GP trying to follow up with me re: last night... He said he wants to do more tests, but according to my bloodwork and everything else, my heart and lungs are in good shape. He also thinks it is the muscle/tissue that is damaged near the heart. Im guessing that this is from my work, as it gets pretty physical and I fuck myself up most of the time... But it pays the bills. :)

Im doing my best to transfer my miniscule income from a physical job, to one on here, and you guys do help me with that one.

I do eat healthy food when I cook, and I cook whenever I can afford to spend $20 on dinner each night... I'm sure there are others here that can't find near $20 for food each day... It sucks but its just how shit is right now, and $2 in 99cent burgers fills you up, $2 at the store gets you a fucking banana. lol

But when I have some money, I eat 10x better, and I always cook with fresh ingredients and make homemade food.

As for exercise, I will get out more. My doc told me not to put any physical strain on my body for at LEAST 10 days... Which I can't really do as I have to work, but I'll do my best to rest and see how I feel... If I get better, I will start jogging every morning, or at least try a good walk. lol

As for soda, I have quit dozens of times, sometimes for months, but somehow I always get hooked on it. I did quit smoking, from 2.5 packs a day to nada, and I quit chewing. I also quit smoking weed back in the day, and never had a problem, never smoked since. I hardly ever drink, and when I do I can really control how much I drink (although sometimes I let that amount go way overboard)... So overall I am pretty good, I just suck at exercising and my diet is bad.

I'll do my best to fix my diet, and when I get better I will try to get in better shape.

All this being said, does anyone have any tips for getting your body into shape to run/jog? Im the kind of guy that you see and assume I could hold my own through all hell... But in reality I get winded just looking up. haha

I just need to get past the point where I feel like a slow jog is going to make my face explode.

Why yes, here I am again...not able to shut the fuck up about this because every time I read one of your posts in this thread I just have to point out your flawed logic (really, I know it's an annoying habit of mine).

You buy Mountain Dew daily but you can't afford to eat right? I call bullshit.

First, let's replace the Dew caffeine with green tea. A full box of 100 green tea bags (store brand) is $2. That will make you about 6 GALLONS of green tea for iced tea. Boil 15 tea bags in water, once it boils turn off the heat. Let it steep for five minutes. Add 1/4 cup sugar (which is nothing compared to what's in Dew). Put it in a gallon jug, fill the rest of the way with water and there is your caffeine. PLUS...green tea kicks butt for energy.

Second.... a dozen eggs are around $1. A loaf of whole wheat bread is $2

3 eggs plus two pieces of toasted wheat bread makes a very filling sandwich. For $3 you get 4 sandwiches. Add a can of green beans as filler (about 25 cents a can) and you've upped your total to $4 for four meals.

Tuna is cheap. Buy store brand everything. Tuna packed in water is healthy. The peanut butter you eat is healthy. The protein shake is healthy. You CAN eat healthy for $2 a meal. You CAN get caffeine from better sources that soda. You need to put the right fuel into your body before you think about running.

I go to the gym every day, I do level 8 for 30 minutes on the StairMaster, 30 minutes of interval training on the elliptical and another 30 minutes of weight machines every other day.

For me, it's not a choice. If I want to end up in a wheelchair I can find a million reasons not to eat right and exercise. I don't though. Because wheelchairs aren't something I want in my future, ever. You have to want it bad enough or you'll never do it.

I agree with BlondeTM. That "I can't afford healthy food but spend money on dew and fast-food" is nothing but bullshit. You'll SAVE money if you eat different. You already have the protein-shake-for-breakfast habit. Just adding another healthy habit will help you a lot. Something simple. Like drinking a glass of water with lemon juice for the taste (or five now that I think of it) for every can of dew. Small changes add up over time. Or having a sandwich instead of a burger once a day.

Pick ONE habit that's SIMPLE and that you can STICK TO.

For starting to work out, here's the most fundamental trick:

80% of success is showing up - Woody Allen

DON'T set any performance goals like suchandsuchmiles.
DON'T set any time goals like suchandsuchminutes.

Just put on your fucking running shoes and get out of the fucking building once a day.

(you may want to have the above sentence printed out and on the wall somewhere)

You can run as slow as you can for as long as you like and go back home.

Do this every day. Focus on the STICKING TO IT on just doing it every day. The rest follows naturally. Don't measure progress or anything, don't set goals. Just do it once every fucking day.

Here's the trick again:

Step 1: Leave the fucking house to jog just once

DONE.

That's how I learned it and I've hated running and then ran a marathon.

Best of luck. :)

If you really mean it, have a simple chart or calendar where you can check a box whenever you've done one of your positive habit-things for the day. Then just watch the small shit add up.

Never try to add more than three daily habits at a time. And keep the thing to do simple, like: One single easy thing to do.

Don't do negative habits, like: getting rid of a habit. It's easier to build positive habits around it that make it impossible to follow through on your negative habit.

If you were drinking 2-4 litres of BlondeTMs green tea, and ate two sandwiches a day, do you think you could eat fast-food twice a day and drink 4 litres of dew on top of that? No fucking way.

So instead of getting rid of the dew, just build something else.

Just start small, with stupid daily doable steps that you could or couldn't do - no big deal.

Once it's become natural, build on that by raising the bar.

So there you have it. Changing your life in a nutshell.

looks like you need a lifestyle change and a shot isn't going to do shit. eating fast food for 75% of your life among other things you listed is the problem. I'd say exercising more will be the most beneficial part of your "recovery". Exercise until you think you're going to die and then exercise some more. This will train your body to be more efficient. go nowwww!

Eat eggs, every single day. Replace a fast food meal with a meal that has at least two eggs in it. Eggs are the perfect food.

No, please dont eat eggs everyday. 1 egg yolk has 210mg of Cholesterol, this is 2/3rds of the daily limit of 300mg recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Eat eggs WHITES everyday, ditch the yolk.

As for the B12/B-Complex, I know it isn't the golden solution, but it's only a vitamin, and certainly won't kill me or hurt.

it is funny, that you mention that and that you see no coincidence to your chest pains you mentioned previously, as first of all

- too much caffeine lets you keep an extreme level of theophylline, which increases your heart rate a lot and secondly,
- too much b12 can lead to angina-like chest pains

i am always astonished at the massive amounts of vitamins people in the us take, without them ever knowing about the side-effects of overdoses.

just because something is a vitamin, doesn't mean that you can eat loads of it without suffering from any side-effects. your body simply doesn't get rid of the surplus automatically. overdosing vitamins can lead to very serious and often very delayed health issues.

so, please. if you want to keep on doing business on the internet for a while, take some time off for yourself and really rethink whether your current lifestyle is worth the 10-12 years shortened lifespan.

ah and btw, your amounts of sugar make you a candidate a for diabetes soon but i am sure you are aware of that risk. unfortunately there are no vitamins to cure this.

and just out of curiosity: why the heck would anyone drink a protein shake if he does not train any muscle in his body tat all that would require a raised protein supply? because too much protein really just goes undigested straight into the toilet, which makes me wonder if that money on protein would not be better invested in some real food (which is not massive amounts of green tea either ;)

I am going to disagree with the whole jogging recommendation. The biomechanics of jogging are more advanced than people think. The majority of people's running mechanics are poor and instead of running, they basically just pound the ground with their heels. Add in being overweight and you and your body aren't going to have much fun.

To quote strength coach Mike Boyle, "You can't run to get fit, you need to get fit to run."

However, if you would like to jog, I would try to find a personal trainer or strength and conditioning coach with experience in running and running mechanics to help with your jogging/running form.

EDIT: Just read a post above that tells you to ditch the egg yolks. Egg yolks are not evil and neither is cholesterol. The key, with anything, is consume in moderation. They contain healthy fats and good cholesterol and should not be removed from your diet completely. I would recommend 1 egg yolk with 3-4 egg whites if you want to go that route.

Yep, you're right about that turbolapp but I think it this case almost all the information is spot on and just needs to be pieced together. Nutrition and fitness are complex subjects and both really are a personalized thing.

Two people can eat the same exact foods and work out the same exact way and it affects their bodies differently. If I did running instead of the workout I do, I'd be in excruciating pain daily. Running is extremely hard on my knees, so I don't do it.

RockDiesel, I do agree about moderation and I was about to type out this whole eggs are not evil thing until I saw your second post. :)

Cyberworkspace, great post. EXCEPT....the only reason I'm pushing the green tea on him is to minimize the caffeine intake while providing a decent substitute. Eventually, he should drink only when he's thirsty, and most of the time water (with lemon). I drink about a quart of green tea a day, it has less caffeine than most drinks. I do drink coffee but not daily, and I do drink Diet Rockstar but again...not massively.

Yeah, a little research will show you that whole eggs are far from evil. Most people would probably be healthier if they included one egg yolk in their daily diet.

Eventually, he should drink only when he's thirsty,

Did you mean something different here? Or did you mean to say it that way?

The reason i ask is because if you drink only when you are thirsty then you are most likely constantly dehydrated. Thirst shouldn't be the indicator of when you should drink. Being thirsty is basically telling you that you haven't drank enough and are dehydrated already.

An excellent way to tell how hydrated you are is by the color of your urine. The darker the color the more dehydrated you are. The clearer your urine the better hydrated you are.

Yes, I did mean it differently and it came out badly (the phone rang so I didn't look it over before hitting send). I meant that drinking liquids would begin to serve their true purpose, which is hydration not mass amounts of liquids for energy's sake (and ending up dehydrated because of all the caffeine and not enough water). By thirsty, I'm talking about a drink with a meal, or a drink between meals to stay hydrated but not a drink in hand every waking hour. Does that make sense? I know what I mean but I can't seem to get it typed out the right way. :)

you need to clarify your Wants vs. Needs

I was thinking about this, and really....it's the bottom line for any type of success or change. This whole nutrition fitness thing is a need for me, it keeps me pain-free by keeping me healthy and thin. If someone doesn't want it bad enough they can afford to think up reasons to not do it.

Works the same way with everything I think.

You`re 22 and that happened to you!! Man oh Man, is that called a fucking wake up call or what. The doctor will tell you what to do, and I wouldn`t start any exercising without his permission. Good luck.

See what happens when you ask a forum for advice? You get 20 contradicting answers.

hehe, ya good point.

My advice. The secret to losing weight..here it is. Burn more calories than your taking in. Waala!..Who'da thunk?

Seariously though everyone has their theories on how to lose weight and feel great. In reality, whatever method you choose, burn more calories than you put in and your guaranteed to lose weight.

Woah! Some of you need to relax a bit before YOU are the one in the hospital for chest pains... haha

Just chillllllllllllllll.... I asked a question about B12... I asked a question about a vitamin!

I am more thorough than I let on, I just don't always feel like following the intense changes of the topic each which way they go all the time.

I eat eggs. ~3 times a week.

I drink protein every morning not for the effects of the protein, but as a simple meal replacement, so I'm not hungry in the AM

I am very active, but that doesn't include actual exercise. I get out, I am very active, I fuck like a madman, I am way more physically active than the average person.

If I wasn't active, I wouldnt have torn a muscle in my chest, landing me in the hospital.

If I wasn't active, I ALSO wouldn't have torn the muscle that holds my pelvis in place 2 years ago (still suffering from it daily BTW) <-- Why I can't full on run like a crackhead from the police.

When I say I can afford cheap food vs. good food, drinks + meals for entire day = $5, but $5 will not feed you at a grocery store. Really. Go look @ prices. I love cooking, I love good homemade food, I'm not some fat fuck trying to justify all my cheeseburgers... I just keep shit simple. $5 a day is much less than 1 grocery store meal will cost you. If you all need me to further clarify this, I will take a camera to the store with me...
^Just fixed my logic.

I don't ever remember justifying anything in my lifestyle, anywhere... So if some of you could stop pretending I did, that would be awesome.
I love the input and advice, but it's over the line when I ask about vitamins, and then a small group of guerilla phreon nazi's decide to try and take me down a notch, because they don't get my exact situation. You are really making a much bigger deal about this than you need to.

I'd like to reiterate that I didn't have a heart attack. My heart and lungs are 100% healthy. I also don't have any issues with my blood, including blood clots. So why are we nitpicking about a burger here or there?

I tore a muscle in my chest because I was active.

Anyone else see the irony here?

P.S. My brothers' dad was a health NUT, gym 6 days a week, like 6 eggs a day... Just had a quadruple bypass last year.
Why risk eggs? If there is 1 diet I trust to keep my heart in good shape, It will be taken from the Mediterranean, because those fuckers got something right.

P.P.S. As for the Dew, I do also drink water. I buy smart water like a motherfucker, I also have an addiction to Arizona tea's, and V8.

Just because I drink a shitload camel-like amount of Dew doesn't automatically mean I can't drink more fluid. I would guess that I take in 3 gallons of fluid a day. I just enjoy drinking a lot.
As per some of you're advice, namely Turbo (I think it was) I'll try to cut the Dew again and give coffee a shot, minus sugar. I hate hot drinks, so I'll see if I can find a good recipe on the net for some iced coffee. I was actually hooked on that for awhile, but it had a pinch of brown sugar in it ,as well as vanilla... It was damn good though. :)

P.s. Because some of you still think I made this thread because I'm a fat kid trying to lose weight... I am NOT fat. lol
Let me say this again...
The B12 is NOT for Weight Loss! It is for an energy kick! Something to replace caffeine/energy drinks with! :)

EDIT: Yes, I was trying to pull my pants up when I took this. lol

b12 is the shit when working out.

Nothing wrong with it just don't go crazy and start shooting it into your neck or something.

Edit: and no not working out to loose weight. Used to increase energy and intensivefy workout for maximum liftage.
