[ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgl0JnE4B_4]Massive Israeli Strike-back on Gaza Strip (Disturbing Video) - YouTube[/ame]

I felt the video best explained it so far from looking at both sides. Nevertheless it's a fucked up situation.

Israel's response was not disproportionate.

Around Nov 11, over 100 rockets were fired at Israeli civilians from the Gaza strip over 24 hrs.

You can't fire 100 rockets at someone over a 24 hour period and expect them not to get pissed.

You can't bulldoze homes, build illegal settlements, murder and displace countless civilians without expecting a reaction either.

From back in 2004?

Israel unilaterally left the Gaza strip in 2005. Gave it back to the Palestinians. There was even a ceasefire. Things had been going great until Palestinian rocket attacks started up again.

"We got our land. But that ain't enough. Now we wanna revenge-kill some innocents."

Fuck ceasefires, civilians gotta die. Amirite?

Since the beginning of 2012, Israel has destroyed 569 Palestinian buildings and structures, including wells and 178 residences. In all, 1,014 people were affected by those demolitions. haaretz.com

From that same article:
On November 8, two days before the attack on the holiest of holies - soldiers in a military jeep - they could have read about IDF soldiers killing 13-year old Ahmad Abu Daqqa, who was playing soccer with his friends in the village of Abassan, east of Khan Yunis. The soldiers were 1.5 kilometers from the kids, inside the Gaza Strip area, busy with "exposing" (a whitewashed word for destroying ) agricultural land. So why shouldn't the count of aggression start with a child? On November 10, after the attack on the jeep, the IDF killed another four civilians, aged 16 to 19.

hey, what about this?

yo, where is the Syria atrocities thread?

Israel unilaterally left the Gaza strip in 2005. Gave it back to the Palestinians.

Israel does not recognize any part of Palestine as a state. Israel still controls the electricity, flow of goods, airspace, etc. The UN and various human rights groups still consider Israel to be an occupying power.

Things had been going great until Palestinian rocket attacks started up again.

Great since 2005? Uh, no.

2009 :
"One year after Israel launched its three-week offensive in Gaza that killed more than 1,300 Palestinians and damaged or destroyed more than 50,000 homes in a campaign aimed at stopping Hamas rocket fire...

A senior official in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing government recently confided to a U.N. colleague that Israel's goal for Gaza was "no development, no prosperity, no humanitarian crisis." The U.N. official interpreted that to mean that Israel would provide Gaza with an intravenous drip of relief to keep its 1.5 million inhabitants alive but just barely, in hopes that the people would overthrow the Hamas government...

Don't be fooled: Netanyahu and Hamas are on the same side - Telegraph

"The loathing between Israel’s governing Likud Party and Hamas in Gaza is real enough, but take a step back and it’s clear they share a fundamental interest in prolonging the conflict. The fact is that Likud and Hamas keep each other in business."
