Breaking Bad - [SPOILER ALERT]

Before today's episode I didn't have the hatred for Walt that people were giving off, I thought he was a bad guy but still felt myself rooting for him.

In this episode is was very much a "HE'S GOING TO SHOOT YOU MIKE, I HOPE YOU'VE GOT A SPARE GUN AND BLOW THE FUCKER TO PIECES.. NOOO, DON'T SHOOT MIKE, NOOOOOO" and instantly my view of Walt has changed to "I hope he gets whatever bad shit is coming to him".

The stuff he's done previously was easier to let slip.

Jesse's girlfriend was a bitch control freak
Gail was in over his head and we never really got too attached to him
Poisoning the kid? Well, he survived..
Killing Gus? Fuck yeah, Gus was a douche

Mike? We've kinda grown attached to him over the series - he's my second favourite character to Saul, and it's kinda like a switch that's gone off in my head to now just want Walt to get what's coming to him. The episode did an awesome job of just making you hate Walt. You seeing him trying to convince Jesse and blackmail him into staying, him refusing to give him any money, then killing the guy that's responsible really for him ever having anything in the first place.

Jesse will not be happy when he discovers this, but will he discover it? Mike was disappearing, it's easy to say "I gave him the stuff and he's gone". Just dispose of the body and Jesse would never expect to see Mike again anyway.

My main questions are around Todd I guess. I expect Todd to be the downfall of Walt, and what eventually leads to him being caught/killed. I think we're very much being geared towards Hank being the "hero" of the entire season, too. We're being setup for Hank to come in at the last minute and save the day before something big goes down IMO.. Saving Walt's kids lives perhaps in exchange for his own (e.g. these new guys that Walt's dealing with black mail him by kidnapping his wife/family). Something like that.

my prediction for the next episode:

Skyler kept asking Walt who he was hiding the methylamine from, she has been concerned with murderers coming after her and her kids since she found out Walt was in the game.

She's now realized:

1) Walt is hiding from someone
2) Jesse is leaving the business, right after having dinner with her and Walt

I bet she's going to try and talk to Jesse and find out what's going on with Walt. Walt is not going to be happy about that.

I think Todd is a spy for another organization. Something is just off with him. I think he's smarter than he looks and he's learning Walt's cook.

I hope not, that's the last way I would want the series to end.

indeed.. from this crap in a previous season as hank was flipping through that other cook's journal:

..It'd totally make sense they'd make a fucking DEA agent the hero.

"you know who I am, say my name" = best bit of Breaking Bad ever.
And Mike was a one dimensional character, glad he is dead.

no he wasn't, he was a ruthless assassin who also loved his granddaughter very much. How is that one dimensional?

They are parts of the same dimension. The others all have alter egos and internal conflicts. The others are all evolving and on a journey. Mike is a crook and a grandfather but that was always the same.

Examples:

Jesse: small time crook trying to deal with serious crime because he is sensitive and has strong morals. An example of an alter ego: meth head. An example of internal conflict: should he do something about Walt whistling after the kid died.

Hank: detective who has panic attacks when he is out of his comfort zone. Constantly battling with his desire to move up in life yet do the right thing. Restricted by his single minded pursuit of Heisenburg. An example of an alter ego: turning into a moody recluse when he lost his ability to be the persona he had created with his job (detective). An example of an internal conflict: should he take the better job or stick with a lower level doing what he does best.

etc....

Mike: a crook that happens to love his grand daughter (this just gives him a human touch rather than being multi dimensional). He was always an enforcer and there was never any doubt in his mind. He made decisions like a robot because of years experience in crime. He was cool and it was nice he liked being nice to his grand daughter but he was basically still a robot. Breaking Bad is about people who are on a journey into crime, so he was surplus to requirements as his journey had been completed many years ago.

.

Yup, before this ep I kinda understood and liked Walt too. Sure, he was a prime time manipulator but down there he was still a good guy who did a few bad decisions along the way. If he killed someone he had to because it was usually a situation of that person or him.

But after Mike he's a cold blooded killer now. What disappointed me most is that from how Walt was developing I could never imagine his character killing someone like this, basically just out of anger without a proper reason.

I couldn't wait for new episodes up to now but I lost all interest after this.

It's just bad screenwriting.

One thing I've realized. I'm a shallow tv/movie watcher.

I only like shows where I like the main character or at least the supporting actor. They don't have to be relatable, but I have to like them. If I don't like the character, I don't like the show.

Walt sucks now and the characters I liked are gone (Mike being my fav). Not excited about the next episode no matter how eventful the plot-line is.

Now that I think about it, I think the "hero" will be Jesse. He's actually become a bit more likable.

I think you are right.

Regardless of how moral he is/becomes, I'm not going to like him like I did Walt, Mike, or the ChickenMan. They each had likable qualities that went outside of their moral codes that made them 'badass'

I am now able to enter this thread because I have watched all episodes, yay! Is it just me or does Todd look like Matt Damon's kid or something? I hope at the end Walt gets what he wants, the credit for doing all this.

oh and I hate how this is the last season

awwwh shit, who else watched the season finale?

i knew when he went to take a shit he was about to find out something.. just like how dexter ended their last season with the sister finding out.
