Diabetics do get their blood sugar checked at the doctor's office, but that isn't why they go. They check that shit multiple times a day. At home. By themself.
They go to the doctor to test A1C levels and a bunch of other shit. Blood sugar levels are a reflection of what is happening in your body right the fuck now and can change from minute to minute. A single blood glucose measurement tells your doctor exactly jack shit. It's the recorded measurements taken over time that can offer insight. Shit like A1C and organ function tests are what the doctor looks at to see if "everythings ok!"

^^ I thought the exact same thing. I actually have a blood sugar testing kit right in my drawer here. They cost about $140, and takes all of 5 seconds to test.
Then like you said, one test means nothing. You could slam back a glass of fruit juice, and it will skyrocket to 340. Ten minutes later, it's back to 110, or whatever.
