How will they know it's contraband if it's in a checked bag? It's not like he's smuggling coke.

Good luck with a fake id in vegas. Only way it'll pass is if its a REAL ID of a friend that looks almost identical to you.

There are no laws against tobacco possession in Nevada. Don't know about the legalities involved with treasonous Cuban cigars, though.

cheapest way to do vegas?

Check out the Four Queens they have $29.00 rooms. Every rooms got a flatscreen TV and theyre pretty nice. It is on Fremont ST, which is the old vegas strip.. so you're gonna have to take a Taxi to the main strip for shows and shit, but hell - you're saving a bunch of money on reservations.. and hell, Fremont ST is pretty fun.

The western-most five blocks of Fremont Street are covered by a 90-foot high, barrel-vaulted canopy, housing 12.5 LED display units. Every hour beginning at dusk and lasting under after midnight, the canopy erupts in light and sound. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Las Vegas…and it’s free.

I second and third that, although to be completely accurate Fremont Street is located in downtown Las Vegas, not the Strip. If you want to do things really, really cheaply there's a bus that goes from d/t all the way up the Strip. I was in LV last January for Affiliate Summit, and stayed at the Sahara which is on the Strip (just barely). I used airline miles for my hotel stay.

The weather was really cold and there were buckets of rain, so if you're coming from the UK this is really not going to be a weather break in the sunshine for you.

Last year at the Rio was a bit rough for those of us not driving because it was so far off the Strip. The new location is definitely a plus.

I won't be going to LV this year (although shooting for ad Tech SF in April). Have fun with your hookers and blow. :rasta:

I forgot to add that most hotels charge extra for WiFi access, so if you rely on connectivity for your work, WiFi will be an extra expense. I connected at the Starbucks across the street from the Sahara on Paradise Avenue, and the big McDonald's on Las Vegas Boulevard had free WiFi as well (I think it was by the Riviera).

There are very few free amenities in Las Vegas, unfortunately.

Expedia hotel + flight works out cheaper than flight alone, so for him to go to a cheap hotel directly will end up costing more.

Oh btw, your real id - hows your DOB read? America does MM//DD/YYYY so you might come out as 18 :p

Hopefully I will, I mean there's no point in them chucking me onto the streets when they could get money out of me. (hopefully) Also, hopefully the Fake ID will work for that, hopefully they're not too stringent on that.

jesus christ.

yes, they will chuck you out on the street without a second thought. billion dollar hotel/casinos aren't going to risk their licences so a 17 year old can spend $80 a night.

same will apply to any somewhat large club/bar you'll want to get in or get served at. no one is risking their liquor license so a 17 year old can buy a few beers and grope a stripper.

EDIT: don't mean to sound discouraging. but it's best you know what to expect. whenever i'd go to Montreal for the weekend at 17 i'd stay at a small b&b and pay off the bouncers or attempt to get by with my terrible fake idea. in vegas they're stricter than you'd ever believe. be prepared to be turned away from the clubs and casinos most will be at and have a plan and story line and actually practice it.

half the battle will be how you talk, act and dress.

yeah exactly. they'll throw you out without thinking twice; they don't make their big profits on the hotel rooms, so throwing out some 17 year old is no big deal.

You guys are ruining the chances for what could be an epic follow up thread during the OP's first night in Vegas taking the fake ID for a spin. :D

war story - dirty vegas with no dough

going to Vegas- losing all of my fucking dough right away on the Cowboys at home against San Fran (90's)... my buddy and I are plastered... go over to MGM to continue getting ripped... pick up two broads out of the downstairs bar... no hotel? NO PROBLEM!

those were the fucking daze!

I think wifi is included in the Wynn's $20/night "resort fee"

When you're under 18 there's laws against tobacco possession.

reviewjournal.com -- News - TOBACCO POSSESSION: Juvenile smoking bill opposed

They tried to pass a bill in 2007 which passed the Senate but was then shot down in the Assembly, which was controlled by Democrats who didn't want to pay for its enforcement.

As someone who never grew up, I take these things very seriously.

"I took out $300, but 'm only betting with $100. I can't afford any more than that, all right? Now, I figure if we buy a lot of chips, the pit boss will comp us lots of free shit. That's how it works over there."

Joe, heads up on being 17... I tried to go when I was your age also (now 19) but you gotta be 18 to attend. So hopefully a ) Shawn doesn't see this thread on ASW or b ) you figure out a way around it.
