Once again making Detroit, Baltimore, and D.C. look like paradise on Earth.

Lol. Dude I know that's why I added the edit right after I posted it. Besides, I'm Michigan born n raised, lived here most of my life. Trust me, I'm well aware of the cesspool that Detroit is, but a guy can dream can't he?

Grew up in Detroit, lived in Chicago for 12 years. People stay out of Detroit for the most part, minus Greek Town, Joe Louis and GM building. So if you don't want to get robbed, raped, murdered, stay out of Detroit.

Chicago, on the other hand, is no longer safe anywhere. We moved out of Chicago because the gang wars started moving out of the gang neighborhoods and into what has always been "safe" neighborhoods. When people started getting shot on Michigan Ave from drive-by shootings, it was time to get the fuck out.

What scared the shit out of me were the packs of kids on their bikes who would randomly pop or literally beat the life out of people for their gang initiations. I'd just about shit myself when I saw groups of kids when my wife was pregnant. Again, this is going on in the nicer neighborhoods (always has, but much worse now)... good kids getting killed while walking home from school, grandmas getting brutally beaten, women constantly getting raped. It's gotten scary bad.

Not to mention Chicago is next to file bankruptcy. They're fucked financially.

That's a way to generalize a city of 8mm in 3 sentences like no other. The city has indeed changed, but would still rather be there than most cities in the US, probably 99% of them.

When the corrupt Daly family finally had an end to their reign, this was going to happen since he had the Outfit in his back pocket, or the other way around. Rahm doesn't have that pull or clout, and word is he'll be out as Mayor in less than 3 years anyway to make a run at the big house (where he won't win).

The US is bankrupt, not Chicago.

And people question living in Spain because of the economical woes here. Petty crime is up and the occasional high profile drug related hit takes place on the Costa, but I don't need to fear for my life when I'm walking down the street.

I've been looking at property in spain and trying to warm the girlfriend up to the idea. No dice yet :(

Welp. Just a few weeks ago I was rolling my eyes at my wife because she was telling me all these cautionary tales about Chicago (don't go to the gas stations! always keep your doors locked and windows up!) while we were heading there to fly to WDW. Guess she wasn't so wrong after all?

Shit, there are like 2 million people just on my block in NYC alone...

Not even 1,000 murders per year and everyone is complaining? Cmon.. get into the four figures at least before any city is considered #1 in the bang bang you're fuckin dead category.

I dunno guys.. whenever I hear news like this, all I can think about are lots of different and unique ways to profit from it. No point in getting upset when there is monies to be made. Amirite??
