Chronic pain gone for 6 weeks.

saw my doctor today and just downed my first dose! i'll update in a few days (weeks?)....

A couple things this thread made me think of:

-I've tried chiropractors, and I've come to decide it's kind of a scam. They only pop your spine back into place for the moment (just like I do with my neck at least 15 times a day) and it will slide right back out within the half hour. Besides thats only a tiny factor of the problem. This drug is thought to work on the anti-swelling neurons (there's a name for them but I'm drawing a blank) so with a perpetual injury that never heals, this helps alot. Chiropractors exacerbate the issue when there's swelling.
.
Worked wonders for me- Believe it or not, it took several months, your muscles have to become accustomed to the new position of the vertebrae.

I don't know what time it is where you are but I would highly suggest taking it first thing in the morning from here out. It works better and won't screw with your sleep as much.

turbo just wondering - do you work out at all? How much muscle mass would you say you have in your lower back?

A lot of my lower back problems simply disappeared just like that (insert click) after I started building some muscle mass in my lower back with deadlifts and squats (which ironically can also fuck your back up even more if you're not careful with them; i.e. shitty form or more weight than you can safely handle).

probably one of <4 woman i respect online.
great to hear turbolapp. hope you have long term benefit from this

i can report that this pill actually does work and i have found a great deal of relief. during a normal day my lower back aches to the point of driving me crazy. but after taking this pill it doesn't seem to be bothering me. now i still have a bad back - but it doesn't seem to be aching and interrupting my daily routine. somehow it has dulled my pain so it really does work and i suggest it for anyone suffering from daily pain. +rep to the OP - thanks!

oh, one annoying side-effect i found is dry mouth. seems something about this pill stops my saliva glands from working so if you take it i suggest carrying some h2o or chewing gum!

Awesome to hear about your pain relief SMW! Yeah I've noticed that I still have to be careful (bend properly, proper heavy lifting techniques, no cartwheels <--really i tried that one the other day and got the shooting-uh-oh back pain for a day) but I still have no pain on a regular basis.

In full disclosure: I switched from Cymbalta to Savella due to some of the side effects previously mentioned. Savella has more norepinephrine and alot less seratoinin so that reduces alot of the side effects. Although, the dry mouth is still there. I found i have to have gum with me or jolly ranchers, I brush my teeth alot more and carry around that Listerine breath spray. But that's about the only side effect I'm suffering from now. Interestingly enough, there's been a burst of energy on Savella not experienced with the Cymbalta. I feel like I'm on adderal again.(win!)

Also interesting to note is I slowly reduced Cymbalta and slowly increased the Savella inorder to avoid any side effects, and while I was doing that, the pain came back for that week. So it's not healed, and it will be back if I stop taking these, but while I'm taking them, there is no pain.

I'm even planning on going to ASW this year because I know I'll be able to hack the all nighters this time around!
