I've been an affiliate for 11 years. I think I've received such an email (with everyone in the TO field) at least once from very major network.

A ShareASale merchant did it on Jan 26 2010. Only about 70 emails, and from the domains (quite a few major coupon sites) I figure it was just a list of the top SAS affiliates they sent it to ;)

Like many people I've figured there's a lot of useful info in those email addresses. I keep them all. If I had more time (as some of you might have), I'd be studying every site (if it's not obvious, a Google search for the email addy should find the merchant) for clues as to how I could do better.

I've never seen something so undeservedly disrespectful as calling a woman a "dumb bitch" for clicking the wrong box on an email.

Tough shit. If you forgive basic incompetencies, things progressively get worse. If she's working for a tech company, she should understand acceptable computer usage and NB should be training entry level staff to the same effect.
 
Agree with cakes.

She's obviously filling in for somebody on vacation in costa rica now. Calling for the "dumb bitch to get fired" over an email address is a little harsh.
 
NB's always done right by me. I can pretty much guarantee that if you were in a position to fuck up in a way that affected lots of people, you would at some point... I've done some pretty big fuck ups in the past, and I've sure appreciated some grace when I did.

Side note: I'm pretty sure you'd handle the situation differently in person... just sayin.
 
In my opinion the root of the issue is not that a human made a mistake, it is the process in place to send marketing emails to NB affiliates.

Why are bulk marketing messages being sent out by people's personal outlook work email accounts anyway?

Why don't they (all networks) get a CRM system or at least aweber or something to send these emails?

I completely agree here. Don't be cheap...buy a good piece of CRM....

But give the girl a focking break dude, specially if she was just helping out.
 
lol this is nothing compared to the glitch that CJ had a few months ago. I was literally yelling at them after getting a call from them apologizing for it.

CJ did not only release an email with hundreds of emails in it... nope.. it also had payment details (amount, offers, leads) of about 20-30 relatively big pubs in it. Glad i ran like... 10€ that month to them. lmao.

And that wasn't alone, instead you had to toss in comments knocking Eleah as some 'low level drone' (or close equivalent).

Yeah, we get it but Cake's point stands the PERSONAL attack is uncalled for, extremely juvinile, quite laughably telling, and were I a network I'd simply stop doing business with you if you insulted a member of my staff like that because guess what- I can afford to. Don't forget that the people employed by networks in positions like this are workers, plain and simple. We all make mistakes and the person above who noted it's the company's fault for not using a CRM that would prevent human error like this is spot on.

I called plenty out at conferences too. Not that I care about this NB leak anymore, I got some great swag! I haven't done biz with NB for a long time, and even then it was piddly.

And as for AKMG, Eleah and (now fired) Shanti just happened to be female, the fuckup would have been called out no matter what gender the AM was.
