Ask for a Kindle and a 100$ Amazon gift card so you can get books and keep them wherever you go. Very useful, good for yourself, your business and not too costly.
 
i think its funny that when i got older i actually wanted gifts like socks lol.. I hate buying stuff like that for myself so i like getting it for xmas..

If your 17 maybe stuff for your future house, apt, dorm etc. might be good (pots, pans, knife set) sounds lame i know but its awesome when you realize you don't have to go buy that stuff when you need it.

The parrot is seriously cool for the seriously nerdy, it runs a little linux server inside with it's own IP address and you control it with your iphone. You can even dog fight another through your iphone. You gotta play with one to believe how sweet it is, plus you can torment the shit out of the family pet.

Books. They're always in that dollar range, people love to give them as gifts, and you can get them on any conceivable topic/genre. Unless you don't read, in which case good luck.
