The doc wants me to get 1 in each heel, and 1 in my ankle, but from what I hear they're quite unpleasant.

Like stepping on a damn extra long thumbtack.

My dad had one after back surgery for a disk. It worked great for him, but I do think they are very unpleasant to get.

I had one when I had terrible allergies with hives and itching. The shot was the only thing that helped and getting it was no biggie.

What's it for?

My mom had it for carpal tunnel but it didn't help much and ended up having surgery...I remember doing some research on this before and came up with mixed opinions on it. (if i remember correctly)

It's not like you work at walmart where you have to walk around all day. You can just sit in your chair and be fine. Go for it.

Why not try physical therapy first? You need to build range of motion in those areas... try the pool. Ice / heat help too.

Let's put it this way, Paul... A bit of a jab now, or a fuckload of surgery later.
Cortisone works, and has few side effects (some people get rashes from the topical creams, but that's usually other crap in the cream and not the cortisone itself). It's why it's in so much stuff.

Yeah sucks to be me eh. Can't play tennis anymore or backyard football (well I can but I have to be QB), I feel like an old man.

Generally the type of arthritis I have starts low and then as I get older creeps up my spine, fusing it and restricting my movement more and more. I'd donate all my campaigns to charity if that would make it go away, hah.

I have arthritis in my left knee, and it started when I was 16 years old. When I went to the doctor with my mom, they thought that she was the patient because I was so young. I feel your pain man, rheumatoid arthritis sucks balls.
