To OP: Hey, I had this exact thing occur to me when I was in high school.
One day in the shower I noticed I couldn't smile all the way.
Jumped out, went to the mirror, tried smiling...and the right side of my face wouldn't move.
It felt very weird...trying to move one side of my face with all of my energy and nothing happening.Think I waited another day before going to the doctor's.
I recall when going to sleep, I couldn't even close my right eyelid all way. This resulted in a sore eye the next morning.
**If you are having trouble closing your eye, use eyedrops. They will help your eye from drying out and being less strained.
So I go to the doctor's and he diagnoses me in a about 45 sec. and tells me I have Bell's Palsy. Of course, I feel awful. Asking him if he was certain, he said yes.
I thought maybe I had an allergic reaction from eating this exotic fruit that I haven't had since I was a kid, but the doctor didn't think that was the case.
I remember he said not to worry because it should be temporary, and surprisingly a lot of people get bell's palsy.
He prescribed me some inexpensive pills to take for a month and told me to call him if the symptoms get any worse.
Anyways, I think after 15-17 days I miraculously got the feeling back on the right side of my face. I could smile and blink and everything. Things went back to normal.
I kept taking the pills for another week, just to be sure. For all I know, the pills weren't doing all that much. Could have been the placebo effect.
So...
I really hope you have the temporary kind that I had.
When I first got it, I went through of gamut of emotions and feelings, 'This sucks,' 'Why me?'...etc.
Believe me, think positively and stop thinking negatively. Your thinking actually has a way of affecting your body.
I also remember drinking some vegetable juices just to try and help my body recover faster than normal.
Hope I shed a bit of light on this...
Keep your chin up.
Good luck.
