Divorce Laws - Unreasonable?

The real answer to this is if you get married, don't marry a workshy bimbo. Marry a woman who's smart and makes plenty of money as well.

This also has the added bonus that you're less likely to get bored and start nailing your secretary. And you won't have dumb kids.

Until you want to spend time with her, vacation with her, etc and she is never available. Then you will go find that "workshy girl" to enjoy time with.

Yeah, and she won't have time for you. Then you'll start screwing your secretary.

Had to put this up.

I had a big debate with someone about this recently... first off, child support. There def needs to be a cap. Why in the world would a baby need $50k/month to survive? I mean come on. Charlie Sheen, for as crazy as he is, is paying over $100k a MONTH for child support on 2 kids. We all know, that the actual kids dont spend a dime, and its all for the wife. They are blatantly taking advantage of the system. I say no more than $5k/month no matter how much money you make.

As for Kobe's wife, i think all females who marry NBA players secretly know that part of the gig is that he is going to be having girls in every town. I saw on Outside the Lines, that some crazy ass study came out saying 95% of NBA player cheat on their wives during road games. 95%, thats almost every single player, comeon wifes, you cant be that shocked.

Lastly- this is what really infuriates me, SHAQs wife apparently started some foundation for divorced wives of wealthy men telling them "They should get paid what they deserve". Last time i checked, Nike, or the NBA wasnt paying her anything, and if Shaq wasnt a NBA star, she wouldnt be rich at all... so what does she deserve that Shaqs maids, butlers and body guards dont?

I used to ask the same questions you guys above are asking ^^^.

It just didnt make sense to me, but this is what i've heard..

If you are making $100k/year and all of the sudden you get divorced, you have to "provide enough money so that your wife can live by the same standards that she has been and would be if you were still married."

it depends on how long you were married and what the income relationship you had while married.

Kobe was married for 10+ years I believe and all the while supporting her - that's a long time and once again, he took her off the market for those 10 years and as the saying goes, at least for superficial people (aka all of LA and those Berto referred to above) at 30 a woman has "Expired". Not my belief, not at all, but that's the hard core reality side of LA.
