Do any of you guys actually love doing AM?

I love AM I don't understand how you can go back to making shit pay when you can do what you want and when.

I've been at home full time for almost 2 years now and I NEVER have missed my old job. My old job I was making $20k+ a year... while now, I've made that in a single day. There are few other opportunities out there that allow you to do that.

I don't mind working at home at all. I love waking up at 9 am and going to bed at 2 am.

I do notice that working at home can get a bit tedious sometimes so I often like to go get lunch with friends, go running, work out, etc to allow me to get out of the house once in a while ;).

I love the kind of money I can make, but I hate that it can go away from one day to the next. I am keeping my 9 to 5 for stability and insurance for now.

Couldn't you walk into your 9-5 and get fired tomorrow? Not very stable...

Not really. It's a mid sized company and I'm the only one that knows anything about building and maintaining websites. If I was going to lose my job I would know about it weeks, if not months ahead of time. I would love to quit and work on AM full time, but I want to save up money first just in case things don't work out.

I've done some affiliate marketing in the past and made some decent money, but I've never liked it. It combines two things I hate: sales and making money for other people.

Agreed. Even better yet, split an office with another web based company so you can have some interaction with like minded people everyday also.
Definitely this. My fiancee has a company with just him and his business partner, and they work in an office that they share with a shoe company, an ecological home building company and a graphic/product packaging designer. It's great to have so many people around when we go in to work there.

I love AM. I just find the process so interesting.

OP - Have you ever worked in a restaurant? I used to. It sucked. My feet hurt. The hours and customers suck ass.

And I used to feel sorry for the chefs, they have it worse. Wake up incredibly early, supervise a bunch of idiots, and try to make a name for yourself. If the trend changes you are fired.

Plus restaurants have one of the highest failure rates of any business. Maybe the highest.

Umm no thanks. I can cook at home once a week if I feel like it.

A lot of guys seem to hate working at home... just a suggestion..alot of guys I know take a laptop to a starbucks and that becomes their office. Plenty of social interaction if you want it and lots of good lookin women walking by :)

I LOVE affiliate marketing. I have never found anything that had the same rush and excitement. Seriously, other then being a movie star or some other celebrity, I can't think of another industry where you can make the same kind of money around the clock.

It's always something new which keeps it fresh and exciting and I couldn't imagine stop doing it anytime soon. Plus, the people in this industry are awesome and I love networking with them.

I have a J-O-B and I can't imagine anything sucking more ass. I'm going to quit and go balls out on AM and see where it takes me. I'm a noob, but I've never failed at anything I've set my mind to. I've been a successful professional poker player and have a masters degree in a very desirable field. I also have a year's salary saved. If it takes more than that, it's not going to happen.

Some would call me a fool, right?

Nope... The people who are too afraid to ever actually chase their dreams instead of just dreaming about it while they wake up and go work a job they hate for 50 years are the real fools, not you.

Looks like the consensus why people like AM: challenging, flexible, and profitable.

The other reason I'm trying to find something else to do is because my wrist are so owned from years of abuse infront of comp (even though I'm only 24). Luckily hiring workers mitigated the problem. Also what prompt me with this question is because I haven't been as successful as I hope I'd be by now, I haven't gotten back to the earnings I had in 2006, just kind of lost my drive.

I do agree with people should partner up, because I have this tendency of having some fantastic ideas, but they never come to fruitition because of inaction. I was lucky enough to find a partner earlier this year that motivated me to start one of my ideas, so hopefully next year will be a better year and maybe I'll regain my passion in AM that I've lost.

Narsticle: the other industry that offers the same kind of rush, money, and flexibility is active trading. One of my friends who was okay in adult AM, but became an options trader (with his own money) makes a lot more money then he made in AM. The kind of money that active traders make probably dwarfs any amount that an AM makes, but it may hold a greater risk, but that's part of the fun.

Nice post Smaxor.

I love it. Seeing the money going in and out, it's like playing the stock market - but more calculated. Taking risks, being creative, and working for myself. It doesn't get much better than this.

Then again - I did SEO for years and I'm just plain sick of it. I use it to provide from PPC (like AdSense and Yahoo!) and that market isnt profitable enough anymore. I still setup a few sites a week - it's like residual income. SEO is like my retirment fund.
