Do any of you guys actually love doing AM?

Wow, Monty is still at it I remember you from DP like a year ago. Keep at it man if we can all do it so can you.

On affiliate marketing, I do it because I am young and this is the best $ I could be making now. I make way more than I did at work and have full freedom over what I do and I know that I am working to make my self money not some douche. That being said I really have no plans on doing this forever. To much can change it would be stupid of me to say that I can just AM for like another 20-30yrs.

My plan is to do what I can now and bank as much as possible to invest into other stable ventures. For most it seems to just start a affiliate network or something else in the business, might go this route or some where else. There are much greater sums of money to be had than just basic am and I plan to find um.

I love it because it encompasses a lot of my interests.. psychology, sociology, copywriting and statistics. I like the fact that I need to constantly be creative and creating to keep earning, as I tend to get bored easily, and would usually wake up and decide to quit going to class or work cold turkey.

There are some things I loathe about it .. first, selling really brings the greed out in people, and it's generally not considered a prestigious profession, even if you're making 10x more than a doctor.

The work itself can also be tedious, but that can also be automated or outsourced.

I love it. I've been in Sales, I've been in Management, I've been in Customer Service, and thank god I've never worked in a restaurant. This is the best thing I've ever done. The opportunity out there is just so massive, and I still don't think we've seen the peak of the AM industry.

If you are getting frustrated with it, take a different angle. If you are sick of CPA, try joining Commission Junction or ClickBank and promoting a different type of product, or join the eBay Partner Program and build a niche site. All it takes is one successful site and you will remember the rush of making money while you sleep and you'll be hooked all over again. Above all don't give up!

Yes, I love IM.

I enjoy working from anywhere I want - all I need is my laptop. I like the creativity and strategies that go into marketing a product.

As for not having co-workers, I like it better working by myself. I was never one to appreciate office drama.

I do affiliate marketing and if I wasn't making a lot of money with it, it's not something I would do for fun I don't think. I agree with subigo, I don't like sales, marketing, or making money for other people. At the same time, I'm spending tons of time working on affiliate marketing stuff so I actually do end up enjoying the work. I like programming more, but it's much easier and less time consuming to make ads.

I don't love it. Maybe that's why I don't do so well at it, or have the passion and fire to do it like I do things I like.

They always say do what you love... but when the things you love don't make money, then they need to rephrase it.

I'm in the exact same boat.

I enjoy my job but some of the people I work with and the administration I work for are driving me and other co-workers nuts.

Two kids so far, one more due on Thursday.

I'm making more on-line than I am in the job I'm in, but the benefits are quite good. Pension, medical, paid work if you're injured in a fight, etc.

Plus I'm helping out friends by hiring them on a revenue-sharing basis and teaching them a little about marketing.

Sorry to hear that Chris, but I'm sure it was a blessing in disguise :)

I need to get out of my shit job too. My balls aren't big enough to quit quite yet (even though I'm making about the same doing IM). The 2 young kids thing (with wife on mat leave) doesn't really help in that dept.

But I love AM too. I'm always up for a challenge, especially when all the hard work is put into my pockets and not someone else's.

While I like the idea of working at a Starbucks, the idea of actually working on a laptop makes me want to hit myself in the head with a mallet.

Mouse, full-size keyboard, two 24 inch monitors...I love sitting in front of my computer, man. If I could take it into Starbucks I would.

A lot of guys seem to hate working at home... just a suggestion..alot of guys I know take a laptop to a starbucks and that becomes their office. Plenty of social interaction if you want it and lots of good lookin women walking by :)

What monitor did you end up going with? I've been looking to upgrade my behemot CRT for a while now.

As far as the thread goes, I have only started learning about AM but I like what I see so far. It's hard to not be enthusiastic when the polls indicate this is a pretty lucrative pursuit that only requires persistence and a little bit of creativity.

And to think that some people pay 8$+ to get a person to write a few things in a form was unheard of for me before 2 months ago when I was researching about how to properly index my website, I stumbled on SEO and eventually here. I think this may possibly be the best "stumble upon" I ever had.

Well I find it a challenge, and who doesn't enjoy a challenge now, seriously?

So far there has been some good laughs on IRC / forums with every one and its fun learning and making moeny.

Get ya ass on Nicky cake's irc if you aren't on! #cakes on freenode!

I love working at home and the flexibility. I totally get the "needing friends" thing. The company I just started with is great as I go into the office (a really nice one!) once a week and just walking into their building is motivating (pathetic huh?). It helps get me "out" and feel a part of the big picture, makes me commute (reminding me of the blessing of working from home) and keeps the whole thing in balance.

Having waitressed for a couple of years.... don't quit your day job! Restaurant industry is brutal and margins are very low. I have a friend who at 40 something decided to go back and pursue his dream of chef. A couple of years later, he still can't find a great job and everything he's looked at you start at the bottom in dishwashing and work your way up. Definitely has to be your passion (as opposed to a fling). Maybe you should contact some catering companies so you can get out here and there and get to experience a bit of their world?!?!?!

As a job, it is the best you could possibly have...even if you don't love it.

If you can put the skills behind something you love, like now I use all my gained SEO experience and blogging techniques to market my own music, which has been my passion since a teenager. If you can put a real joy behind these tools, watch out.

Work in a fucking cubicle for a while.. blows ass.

OMG that's the truth.

Wage serfdom is the worse. I hated how every job I have ever had the boss made me feel like he was doing me a favor by hiring and would take full advantage by working my ass off, yet when it was time for a raise "now isn't a great time." routine.

The only way to get a good raise is to find another job... or forget the rat race and make money on your own freelancing or AM. Nothing beats having multiple streams of income and being able to choose who you work with and on what!

Concur here, too. While in affiliate marketing you are netting income for another entity who is just paying you what they are willing to part with, at least the network isn't directing your every move, asking you to wear work-appropriate attire, nit-picking about some fucking memo, making everything a damn emergency and lambasting you for not having a fire under your ass over stupid shit.

re: Do you love Affiliate Marketing?
I enjoy the process of teaching myself something profitable, and I certainly enjoy the reward of cashing in. It's like a video game with tangible rewards.

I'm not at square one right now but I'm not ready to go full or even part-time either. I work toward it daily, though, not so that I can be a fulltime affiliate marketer- but so that I can use geographically independent sources of income to travel and do all the other things I couldn't do if I was tethered to a nine-to-five (like, hopefully, climbing Everest). Affiliate Marketing is a tedious way to make a living forever, but it's probably the best vehicle I can think of for growing your cash into other passive sources of income- e.g. equity investment, real estate, or growing/building/buying other businesses on and off line.

I love AM, could not imagine doing anything else. I work all hours and often 16 can pass without me even realizing it.

I love the freedom it gives me. I've only worked in cubicles when I did have real jobs, and it sucked. I could not do it again. Making lots of money and working from home will always be completely satisfying to me.

Picked up a second Dell 2408WFP or whatever it is. It's brighter than the 2407WFP.

I'm much more productive.

Now I just need that 4-screen stand on Newegg and 2 more 24 inch monitors.
