Do You Avoid Hiring Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis?

Come on, you can not say that these three nations do not have any qualified workers...
Its a cultural thing, and its also a level of frustration that is crazy for some people.

I did have some workers from India and Pakistan pull off disappearing acts only to come back a month later (and a month late) to give me all kind of insane excuses, however I worked with enough qualified and professionals from all three nationalities.

Its simple: hire who gets it done right. If there is a team you work well with, it shouldnt matter where they're from

Problem with Indians is that the good Indians are way more expensive than what you would normally pay. What you get are the leftovers, the bottom of the pyramid as we call it, who are working from cyber cafes maybe.

And India is bloody 1 Billion plus people. So you will get shit as well as Gold.
If you doubt Indian, visit the silicon valley. They serve Dosas at the ebay cafeteria...by the thousands..

You have to know how to hire Indians...

India is very complex . Maybe I will have some St Xavier's Graduate from Kolkata write an eBook on how to hire Indian workers and kill it on Clickbank..

haven't had any luck with pakistanis or indians

have a great bangladeshi that does all my wordpress stuff tho

and a fuckin awesome peruvian who can do anything and never charges me much

It's a cultural thing, not a lack of actual talent or skills. If you can connect with them on a cultural level and talk the talk, it's great value. The people I deal with make entire websites in flash and do complex programming for under $500 that no one in their right minds in a western country would even touch without adding a zero to the figure. The trick is to be able to connect with them and have them want to finish shit on time.

This can be achieved by simply talking the language that they do, which earns their trust, and feigning similar beliefs and outlooks unique to the particular backward culture (and there are many vastly different ones in the subcontinent). And then playing with their hopes by telling them that they have a chance of making it "big time" ;) Capitalism and social manipulation 101 really. It's not exactly altruistic but I believe there is some value in this approach, everyone including the ones doing the work can make money and that's all that matters.

I'm having the toughest time working with an Indian developer right now. He keeps on saying that he did not previously agree to the work that had to be done and keeps demanding more money. I will research the next developer a lot more, that's for sure.

I am a bloody racist. Politically Speaking!!
But,not dumb enough to judge person by its race.Specially, when doing strictly business!!

Businessmen are not dumb asses!
This.
threadS plural, you dumbfuck. Let me make a WILD guess - you're Indian?
Yes. corrected sir:thumbsup:
[jeeto stop creating useless threadS./]
See when it comes to business i m ofcourse not racist:small-smiley-026: you cant judge the person by its race, i had great working experience with Pakistanis and Bangladeshis.

Was just looking for a new part time programer. Indian, Pakistanis.. all the same kind of brown nosers. Call me racist but if you hire a 'hungry' ukrainian or russian programer you know your shit works and he will deliver on time. Its just a fact.
I have had great employees and shitty employees from India, Paki, Fili, Bangldesh, US, and Eastern Europe. But if you are talking programming I have always had fantastic luck with Ukrainians. Communication is always excellent and they are hard working people that have fantastic educations. They typically charge more then Indians but they do the work in 1/4 of the time and I have never had one try and get more money out of me then we agreed on. That being said people are people and finding someone to work for you is a process of sifting and sorting. Being VERY clear about what you want and what you will pay, monitoring them closely, and firing them fast when you get a hint that it is not working out and move on to the next person.
Also realize that many of them have been screwed more then a street whore so they are always working expecting that you are going to put the wood to them and not pay/under pay/dispute/ etc

You're just not culturally sensitive enough. You're too fucking euro-centric. It's your fault.

If I spent a year living with an Indian/Pakistani/Bengali family, I would probably have some sort of super passionate response to this thread.

This is one of the human being's many flaws. Abstract logic takes a backseat to personal experience.

I am drunk.

So you're saying I'm doing it wrong. I should hire an Indian to hire Indians.

P.S. Is disappearing and then claiming sick cow/father/mother/uncle/natural disaster/genocide/aliens/etc a cultural thing?

I prefer people in China and Tibet, theyre usually very nice and work well. Although I currently have a person from Bangladesh whose been really great so far.

But all in all it comes down the the individual person, even if I have had horrid luck with Indians.
