Good answer, but let me try to make it a bit more complicated for you here...
Let's say Jessica, a smoking hot 25 years chick had to choose between 2 guys...
Guy #1: a 35 years old Pool guy earning 35k a year, living in a modest condo and a leading a pretty okay life. Physically let's just say that he's the kind of guy that all girls look at when he enters a bar. He's very good looking, got a six pack, got swagger, is funny, social and outgoing. (think David Beckham kinda looks, without the wallet lol)
Guy #2: a 35 years old Business Owner. Controlling hundreds of employees. Earning Millions a year, living a in a luxurious penthouse on top of a skyscraper in downtown Manhattan. Travels in a private jet. However he's got a beer belly, lost almost all his hair and is the introverted kinda guy. His favorite hobby is Golf with a bunch of oldies. LOL
Oh yeah and let's assume that both are gentlemen and know how to treat a woman.
What's the girl's pick? I'd say 80% of girls would go for #1.... good looks/swagger outperform money/power almost all the time.
And keep in mind that this example applies only in developed countries. In this scenario let's assume Jessica has a degree, full time job and can provide for herself. Obviously if you take this example anywhere in Africa or Asia, 100% of the girls would go for #2. :2drinkspit:
Jessica, with her girlish looks may look innocent but she is not. She has been given every advantage in life due to her appearance. She doesn’t want to choose a path with certain pros and cons. SHE WANTS IT ALL.
Guy #2 isn’t her top pick when it comes it sex but those champagne-soaked late night voyages in his private jet are a dream come true. She gets to experience the best of everything without spending a dime.
The world at large thinks Jessica has chosen Guy #1, but there is more to the story. Revealing Guy #1 and keeping Guy #2 secret keeps up the appearance she wants to project. In addition, she is unconsciously ashamed about the fact she is a glorified prostitute for Guy #2.
Although she really digs Guy #1, she also hates him for everything he isn’t. He isn’t ambitious like Guy #2. He is well-liked but lacks the power of Guy #2 who is followed around like an alpha dog by underlings in the office.
Neither Guy #1 OR Guy #2 are her ideal mate. No one is but she is too deluded to realize this (due to her life of privilege). So in the meantime she has no problem getting the best of both worlds.

If 80% of women choose Guy #1 it is because his holistic benefits outweigh that of Guy #2 in the dating marketplace. Undoubtedly women use extensive criteria to grade the quality of a potential mate, money being just one.
This doesn’t necessarily prove that good looks outperform money (deleted swagger because two items against one is uneven). We need to consider the amount of money and degree of good looks. Suppose Guy #2 is SO RICH that the allure of Guy #1 is weakened to the point that 80% of women choose him and 20% Guy #1.
In addition the rich man’s looks have been crippled to help drive home the fact that money is less important. A rich man is equally as likely to be good looking as the man with modest income. He is just as likely to be fit, interesting and have game. Everything about Guy #2 in your example unappealing besides his money.

Honestly, I think we are entering an era where women are becoming just as ambitious as men when it comes to making money. They want to get their own careers, start their own businesses and experience their own professional success, and today they get to see all these successful women on TV which makes them want it even more.
I think a Jessica from the 60ties would have jumped on Guy #2 without a doubt. A broke good-looking guy would have had ZERO chance at that time. But a Jessica from 2011 is a totally different woman. She has all this social pressure (from her family, from society AND from other women) that push her to pursue her dreams, get a career and compete with other men at the workplace. She wouldn't be totally satisfied dating an average-looking guy that pays everything for her. She'd realize that maybe picking guy #1 and pursing her own career would be a better option!
