Don't ignore your health, if you have the money go see a doctor if you haven't......

Exercise and diet are the key to a healthy long life. As you get older you realize you're not invincible like you thought. I'm mid 30s and I've decided to semi-retire and get healthy and start enjoying life more. Life is too short and I've already spent enough time in front of these damn computers. I'm also setting up a kick ass turbostation where I'll try to spend at least half of my computer time. They say that sitting for extended periods in front of a computer (i.e. the sedentary lifestyle) is absolutely HORRIBLE for the body, and I believe it. Fortunately I play a lot of tennis and stay pretty active, but I'm going to kick it up a notch. My goals going forward are just to maintain my nice internet monies and focus on health, family, and experiencing more great shit that life has to offer before I get too much older. When I was younger it was all about hustling, working 60+ hours a week, making as much money as possible ... but now it's time to start a new phase of my life and I'm really looking forward to it.

update on my diabetes situation if any of you care

Week two down of having Diabetes | wallofmonitors.com
Read your blog post, and you're doing very well. You'll have diabetes managed in no time if you keep up the momentum. Congrats!

Around here, my once-beautiful high school friend is now morbidly obese and diabetic as well, but she does nothing about it at all - except for taking prescriptions. When eating out she orders two desserts and eats like a horse. I hate to think of the terrible things that will happen to her if she doesn't stop, but it's her life.

Jeez, this is scaring me. Getting on my treadmill NOW.

I still eat what I want but I have to do portion control, Like when I go to my fav italian place I can't have a big bowl of pasta anymore, but I can have a handful of pasta and some chicken breast with eggplant on it with a little bit of cheese.

I've learned that eating at mcdonalds I still can do but the ebst thign on the menu besides a salad is nuggets, only 12 grams of carbs for a 10 piece, 1 mcchicken from the value menu has a bun thats 40grams of carbs and I'm only allowed about 45g of carbs a meal.

The only way I can see to take control of your diet, is to eat at home as much as possible. Restaurants do not cater to people who need a low carb, low refined sugar diet, least of all fast food restaurants.

give an american a life threatening dietary-related illness and what does he do by week 2? justify how he can eat at mcdonald's.

sad.

heavyt i had the privilege of hanging out with you a few times, you're a frickin' beauty... but you need to cut the fast/junk food completely, eat healthful foods prepared properly at home, and exercise. i could have told you when we met that you were going to get type-2 diabetes.

kick its ass, bro... you don't need any surgery. just apply your brains to fixing your health as hard as you do to stackin' the paper and you're all set.

good luck!
