Erdogan is done. 1 million people protesting in Istanbul, city is a battlefield.

There's a small problem with all these protests / riots that keep popping up...

Nobody knows what the fuck they want. They just know they're not happy with their current situation in life, so fuck it, they're protesting for a new government!

Who told you they are protesting because "they're not happy with their current situation in life"? These are not hippy occupy-student-loan protests.

They want government accountability and they want to keep the secular state. Erdogan has different plans for 10 years already and so they want him out.

As you can see below, the people are pissed! They are all being made to do janitorial jobs / custodial management by their ruthless leader... Who is this leader?

Holy fuck, even the penguins are roiting.

I knew that happy feet cunt was trouble!

It's nice that wickedfire has changed its color scheme to green in support of the turkish protestors, just like when people changed their avatars to green on twitter in solidarity.

Its also nice that the mods at wf went a step furthure and are also pomoting a charity in support of the turkish called 'Above All Offers' which by the name shows that the turkish people are above all offers of compremise and will protest and even die until this situation is resolved.

I for one welcome the change!

What is Happenning in Istanbul?

...
On top of all that, the government control over its people’s personal lives has become unbearable as of late. The state, under its conservative agenda passed many laws and regulations concerning abortion, cesarean birth, sale and use of alcohol and even the color of lipstick worn by the airline stewardesses.

They know exactly what they want. They don't want their country turn into a islamic sharia state, opposing the merge of politics and religion, as it was designed by their beloved Atatürk.

Maybe you want to educate yourself next time before making such a stupid and popularistic post just to sound witty.

As for the rest of "all those protests keep popping up" - they know exactly what they want, but based on your post it's you who has no fucking clue what is going on in Europe and Turkey.

Keep banging Ladyboys, peace and love bro.

You want to know whats happening...I'll tell you what's happening, i walked out of my flat the buses and public transportation were stopped due to the riots. The Gov. doesn't want people to join the protests, and to be honest I wasn't going to join but seeing as the gov. is doing every and anything they can to make life a living hell for the average joe here, i walked across the Bosporus bridge and went to Taksim. No one had rocks, knives, etc in there hands, of course there were a bad few who where trying to cause a bigger mess so we took care of them ourselves. But all in all we were a bunch who sat down with our friends in a park who read books, sang, and shared sandwiches.

I had countless friends who were sprayed by water canons for no reason other than just standing there and not bowing down to the "Sultan" of turkey. Like i mentioned earlier we didn't throw rocks or break windows or flip over cars and burn them, a peaceful protest is what we all wanted...After all we are all college students...

I learned one thing out of this whole mess, i remember seeing posts here about cops and the rights of citizens thinking man these guys are blowing it our of proportion. But they are right, because as soon as a cop gets an order he or she doesn't think about whether its right or wrong...So fuck the police.

Ohhh, fuck... Turkey going under Sharia law is about as likely as the US National Guard going door to door in the US to confiscate guns. It's just not gonna happen. Turkey is one of the most modern and progressive Muslim states in the world, so imposing Sharia law on a population of over 70 million like that overnight just ain't feasible.

Don't worry, your women won't be wearing burkas or be banned from receiving education anytime soon.

It's a bit premature called Erdogan "done." People in the countryside are far more conservative than in Istanbul, and this group is the majority that put Erdogan into office. He's been trying to erode Ataturk's secular traditions and shove Islamic law down everyone's throat.

Fuck religion. Religion spoils everything.

That said, in March I saw many uncovered women in Istanbul that may or not have been tourists. Alcohol was freely available in restaurants, etc. I hung out mostly in the oldest part of the city, Sultanahmet, an area with many religious relics and institutions. Taksim Sq. is the more urban, modern and European part of the city, so I'm not surprised the insurgency started there.

I loved Istanbul; Turkey is a great place. I hope the Turks can halt the sharia train while preserving civility and order. It would be a huge cultural loss if any of their precious relics are damaged.
