Favorite Coffee

I like the stuff from Intelligentisa cafes here in Chicago. Unfortunately these places tend to attract a lot of pretentious pseudo-intellectual college dropout loser assholes, but the coffee is usually worth it.

Intelligentsia is the real deal if you're a coffee nerd. I'm a coffee fiend, but I'm not still at the most serious level. (pretty close though) Other brands to look out for: Stumptown, Counter Culture, Zoka, Paradise Roasters. Drink these, and dare to sleep!

I have had some kona blends from hawaii that I haven't been too impressed with but I am getting ready to try the peaberry blend next. Hopefully that one will be better.

I would also take a $20 French press, filtered water and fresh whole beans w/ grinder over nearly any drip machine on the market.

Again - quoted for truth.

Using a french press makes an amazing (and very strong) coffee.
The real secret for full flavour lies in grinding the beans just before brewing.

This is the only thing getting me out of bed in the mornings.

i got a cheap-o ($200) espresso machine about a year ago that's built like a tank and makes any coffee taste 10x better. The frother actually works and makes lattes/cappuccinos that taste better than starbucks'.

jenzkc - do you happen to have the brand name. I would be interested in knowing at that price point, and it being a "tank".

Thanks.

good luck bros.

French press with pretty much any fresh ground beans = bliss... any half decent beans will be delicious.

When grabbing a latte on the town, I usually grab a white chocolate mocha (quadshot).

If I'm on the west coast, you can't fuck with Stump Town roasters in Portland. (Although I'm open for recommendations pretty much anywhere)

I've been doing coffee for a long time now. But in the past 3 yrs or so for some reason I've been hooked on this premium grocery store stuff called "Seattle's Best". They sell it at all the stores around here and has a great taste.

The fucked up thing is that i can't drink anything else (except Starbucks) after doing Seattle's Best. It just doesn't taste as good. And ya i go for the flavored Hazelnut, Creme Brule, Cinnabon flavors. I'm sure they have some sort of drug in it or something at this point.

Starbucks yuppie? :action-smiley-052:

nahh your way off track here. In fact i hate starbucks coffee. Also just in case you didn't know, they don't have flavored roasted coffee. They use flavor shots.

I like fresh roasted gourmet flavored. The kind of stuff you find at places like Fairway in the city.

+1 for french press. It could be coffee beans grown in dog turd and if it went through a french press it comes out tasting like heaven.

Hey Turbo,
Any particular brand of French Press or price point I should be considering?
I have heard from several people, not just on this forum, that the FP does an awesome job.
It gives you a richer tasting coffee. It looks syrupy to me. Doesn't really matter though - if it's good
java, it's good java.
