Favorite Inspirational Business Flick

Lol, go back to sleep. How's the Digital Point doing still online I'd suspect.

you just said 99% of people who work for businesses in the world are as ruthless & corrupt as gordon gekko, and I'M asleep?? that sounds like something you'd overhear some OWS assclown say (on his iphone, no less) to convince his parents to send more money so he can "fight the power".

You obviously have no idea as to the group of people I was referring to. So before you open your fucking mouth in future, at least be sound in the knowledge you know what who/what people are referring to. It'll save yourself from looking like a total retard.

Good luck, I can see you're fitting in here already.

which of these 6 words did i misunderstand?

"99% of the international business community."

You misunderstood the whole context, comprende? You got flamed for jumping to conclusions without further questioning who I was referring to, if you'd asked just which group of people I was talking about, I would of explained it in further detail. But you didn't, and you came out with dumb ass conclusions instead.

+1 for Margin Call.

If you loved Wall Street, then Margin Call is what you would have hoped Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps would have been if it weren't so heinously fucking lame. Loosely based dramatization of the actual Lehman Brothers collapse that kicked off the Recession.

Bumped to #1 on my Netflix queue.

Makes you wonder how a film like this with an all-star cast doesn't get a wide release. I guess the studios realized they couldn't make a sequel out of it and just said fuck it.

Lord of War is great....I suppose Scarface too in a related "coming up from nothing" theme.

I'll guess I'll be the first to say that I really liked The Social Network.

Probably because a majority of the country couldn't understand it.

social network, also i really liked watchmen - especially the scene where the dude is in front of all of the big car executives and he tells them he could buy all of their companies combined 3 times over or something insane

Can one of you fucktards please explain why those are your picks? Okay sure, you got all giggly inside after watching it, but what was the take home message?? Your idealizations of the people you want to be in those movies are great but you nonetheless learn't shit all. I can understand some of your picks but still what is the message or how can you use something applicable from those movies.

Anyways the wire is dope because of this part and many others like it. Also I'm surprized no one mentioned the pursuit of happiness.. the commentary in that movie is phenomenal...

Anyways...

I can see how Margin Call, bad ass cast not withstanding, would be tough to market for a mainstream release. There isn't really a protagonist to root for, there's just different characters; but watching how they frame themselves in the context of the situation is immensely compelling. Jeremy Irons character would be analogous to a Gordon Gekko but where Gekko simply doesn't apologize for his actions Irons sees nothing wrong with his actions and makes a good case for that perception (it's not even moral relativism). Also, Paul Bettany's character takes a pretty good swipe at the American public's hypocrisy about a level playing field.

Easily one of my top 5 favorite movies, but it would be a hard sell for movie execs that think Adam Sandler playing his own twin sister makes for a blockbuster.

The Wire - Season 1, Playing Chess - YouTube

I don't know what this video has to do with the actual business world (street hustling doesn't count) but it's a good scene none the less.
